Default Ecoboost bad gas millage??

Hi everyone,

New here so bash away

I just picked up a new used 2011 ecoboost with 11k miles XLT as my 2 door jeep wasn't cutting it for a fam of 4

I have been lurking and reading and ti seems everyone is getting really good millage while I am getting about 14 in town and 18 - 20 on the interstate's..

I am a slow no rush kind driver and don't put my foot in it ever, unless it s a have to pass situation.

That millage is stock and no trailer.. Am I missing something here???

Also in all my cars I replace the DIffs and trans with a synthetic that has drastically improved millage on each. has anyone done this yet?

You don't have bad gas mileage. 18-20 mpg is good on the hwy. what did you expect exactly?

Hi Joewee3.5,

The sticker has it listed at 17 -24.. I always figure for reality take 2 off that which is about accurate for my jeep , enclave, and diesel. So I was thinking 15 in town and about 22 highway???

I have a 12 fx4 screw and I'm only getting 13-14 town and 17-20 on highway. I haven't complained yet. What do you expect it's a truck. I could care less i love my truck.

That sounds about average for these trucks. I get about 18 on average. That average is made up of about 22-24 at highway depending on speeds and about 12-14 in the city depending on the number of lights you catch.

Go on a long trip, reset the meter, and see what the highway mileage really is at a speed of 55-60 mph. Anything over and I find it drops quite a bit.

17-24? I didn't know it showed 24 on an Ecoboost. Pretty sure mine said 21 and 2x4 said 22mpg hwy. That was in '11 though.

You can even get the 24mpg if you find nice flat smooth road get the vehicle into 6th gear and do about 45 to 50mph. But this is just not practical.

Your milage is just fine, just enjoy.

I'm assuming the 17-24 you are talking about is the fine print numbers for expected range in highway driving? Under the big 21?

Your numbers are exactly in line with the expected ranges...heres a window sticker:

In another thread, it was posted that you should check and secure all the vacuum lines that you can find as they can drop your mpgs by up to 4.

You may also want to check what ratio the rear in your vehicle is 3.21, 3.55 or 3.73. The first, 3.21 would give you the best freeway mileage, and then it would go down the higher the ratio goes.

Generally, you won't see anywhere near 24 with the 3.73 unless you are coasting downhill with the wind at your back especially in a 4X4.
