EcoBoost Aftermarket 4" Exhaust Dyno Results

You are right about the low-end torque, but PUTdotCOM also talked quite a bit in the article about difficulty in getting good dyno runs beyond the low-end torque issue.
They discussed throttle tip in, torque converter issues, trying to keep the engine computer for cam and spark timing in their sweet spots, etc. Perhaps it really isn't all that difficult, but they certainly made it seem like the numbers could easily be tweaked with nothing more than how quickly you mash the gas!

so are you suggesting that using a favorable method for the exhaust setup and a less favorable approach for the stock setup would seem to result in a larger 'gain'?
seems to me that 6000rpm in 4th gear runs into the governor.
Also, since they are using 'flywheel' torque, they've got to be applying a correction factor to what is being measured at the wheels. a larger correction factor will result in a larger absolute gain.

The only thing I'm suggesting is 1) The gains look bigger than I would have expected and 2) PUT.com described that the Ecoboost / F150 combo was difficult to accurately dyno and results varied notably with changes in testing method.

Maybe I was wrong, I went back and took a look at it and now I don't see what I remember seeing. It's the 4" version and it looked like it removed the cats, but maybe not.

Got my EB catback exhaust done yesturday, the muffler shop had Raptor systems from raptor truck owners, that have upgraded, so I got that setup, dual tip out one side, but replaced the tips with magnaflow tips, and the muffler is Oem ford, but a high performance one, sounds ok, not loud at all but can hear a deeper sound, but yeah it sounds ok haha

Now, all they have to do is get it certified by Ford as warranty-friendly. That would be a huge bonus in their favor.
Ford should come up with a certification program for mods for this engine based on how picky it appears they are going to be. Some sort of symbol with "Ford EcoBoost Certified" under it.
Hell, it works for computers

i can try to post one up when I have time, it's really nothing spectacular, the guy that runs the muffler shop did a setup for a EB for a dealership that was taking the truck to a show, and he said he tried so many mufflers, and didn't like any of the sounds, I did get to listen to my truck when they disconnected the system by the cat.
Man did that sound good, you can hear the turbo n all! but im mot straight piping it, that be too loud

Retired and loving it!
"Also, remember how much difficulty pickuptrucks.com had getting good dyno runs with the EcoBoost? (article here) A little surprising to see such clean dyno runs from HeartThrob."
Wow ---- a couple of things mentioned in this article concern me --- especially for towing. Sounds like there is some kind of torque management going on so that the cats don't get too hot, AND that the drive line doesn't get stressed! Do you read the article in the same way??
