Ecoboost and 93- ITS ALL HYPE

I guess to each his own. I think loud trucks are stupid. I mean why do you need a truck to sound like it is fast when it is not. A muscle car...now that's a different story. It sounds fast because it actually is.
That is definitely better than the Ecoboost, but we do make up for it in daily driving which my truck does more of.

I do more pulling than unloaded so for me 5.0 works out better. In a few years when I'm not pulling a trailer everyday the eb will be in my garage (partly because we wont be allowed v8's anymore with obama's fuel economy plan). By then the eb should have way more power than necessary and 30 mpg I hope

Yeah when asking about towing I should of mentioned the aerodynamics of what you're towing. I get 8mpg towing about 8000lbs, but my trailer is about 9 feet tall.

Don't get me wrong I like the sound of a nice V8 but most people over do it, especially with trucks. Even if they have a V6 they do it! Down right pisses me off when some D-Bag comes driving by with his loud *** truck thinking he's hard. That's why I went with the Dynomax VT muffler quiet in normal driving and only gets loud at WOT and it's still not even as loud as a Cherry Bomb at idle.
And don't take this a me attacking you if it sounds like it. I'm just sharing my displeasure with my experience of loud trucks.

I don't tow my car and trailer enough to justify the loss of daily driving gas mileage I'd get with a 5.0.
I do, but only if the sound and going fast are synchronous, which they are not with a truck.

Considering the power you were demanding from it at cruising speeds is minimal... the difference between the 87 fuel/ignition etc settings and the 93 would not effect anything. The throttle setting for 70mph cruising is essentially idle.
If you were running say the baja 1000 and actually put your foot down for considerable portions of your journey, then the 87 vs 93 would probably significantly different.
Oh and FYI, if you are just viewing threads at a forum for a while you are a Lurker, only when you start posting did you become a Troll :P

ethanol
I wonder what the difference is with/without ethanol. I believe you lose a little something going to ethanol so if your regular gas was non-ethanol and you went to premium with ethanol I would expect something less than a desired improvement. Locally there is no ethanol to be bought anywhere so I can't ever compare the two.

This, directly from the EPA website: "...The EPA fuel economy tests use 100 percent gasoline, and no adjustments are made to account for ethanol. Most conventional vehicles using E10 (10 percent ethanol) will experience a 3 to 4 percent reduction in fuel economy."
