Is the Eco worth 3K more than 5.0
#21
I have the 5.0 and will never tow over 6,000 that I know of. I have only towed once so far and it was less than 2500 lbs and it was wonderful.
Yet, if I was looking at towing 8,000 lbs I would probably considered the Eco more than I did.

opinion gleaned from reading here on this site..
5.0 Advantages: less sensitive to modifications that include leveling kits, tires, etc.
Probably gets slightly better mileage in all around driving and mpg is less effected by wind and speed. Great sounding exhaust.
3.5 Ecoboost Advantages: Party waiting to happen....

Now it does have restrictions and the Eco was it because the XLT only offers the 3.7 and 5.0 otherwise. Neither of which allows for the maximum towing of 11300.
If you meant for the 5.0, you can get the HD and max tow packages for that engine as well but max rating was only 10000 lbs.
I hope that's what you were implying

I didn't notice that b4. I was looking at this chart
http://www.ford.com/resources/ford/g..._F150nov18.pdf
I don't see the Max Tow offered with the 5.0. Just note (2) HD Payload.
I posted elsewhere that only offering the Eco at the maximum tow ratings seems to be a marketing ploy.
Oh well, I like my truck and it will pull what we are considering towing.

the price difference also has to do with rebates offered. When I bought mine, I got extra rebates on my 5.0 that I wouldn't have gotten on the eco. Dealers are also not willing to negotiate as much on the ecoboosts because they are such a high seller right now, so the $3,000 difference is believable.

Rare truck
The XLT can haul 11300. There was, for '11, a max tow and HD package for XLT.
Now it does have restrictions and the Eco was it because the XLT only offers the 3.7 and 5.0 otherwise. Neither of which allows for the maximum towing of 11300.

If you look in the Ford spec book of 2011, you will see the options for the XLT are an HD package and Max tow package for a combined tow rating of 11300.
There are restrictions but they don't list them clearly.
However, when I ordered my XLT scab with EB, they also asked if I wanted the HD and max tow packages but I don't need them so didn't get them.
