Thank you for the correction there SkiSmuggs. I think I'll try an in/lbs wrench just to be safe.

Turbo motors love tighter gap and colder plugs

Debating on doing this as well…just snugging them down.

It doesn't take much. They go from loose to instantly tight in a second. I'm glad I have an inch-lbs torque wrench... I've stripped a few bolts on my bike thinking I'm just snuggling it up.

Got my plugs, my in/lbs wrench, some anti seize and a gap tool.

Changing plugs in the morning. 40533 miles on the original plugs. Notice a rough idle when cold. My truck sits all week without being used (company truck I use during the week) and I'm assuming it's the plugs.

I thought the advice on newer plugs was to not use anti seize? I always did use a tiny bit on plugs in older vehicles, but the consensus now seems to be go dry and clean.

Well if that's the case…I'm not going back in and removing the little anti seize I used. The hardest part about the job is getting the damn coil packs off. Took me about 1.5 hours. I'm glad there's only 6 plugs instead of 8. Idle is smooth as glass now. Thanks to all!

And if it really matters…correction on the mileage. I have 40403 miles as of right now. The plugs look fine to me??

just installed motorcraft 534's in my 2011, all gapped at .035 out of the box(gap not adjustable per side of box) now the rpms are surging and running a lil rough, even after disconnecting the battery....any suggestions?

Are you sure one didn't get cracked during installation? I still would have gapped them to .030 regardless of what it said on the box.
