Eco mileage report
I recently returned from a 900 mile trip. Cool thing was my destination was my friend's summer place which is almost literally a stone's throw from Hwy 68 near Davis dam where the Ford video was made of the trailer pulling spanking of the Chevy and Dodge occurred.
Ok my truck is a '11 FX4 with 3:73 and 145" wb. I was running 87 octane name brand gas both ways. I have a Tonno Pro cover that undoubtedly added at least 4 mpg to my average . The truck had under 1000 miles on it when I left and around 1700 miles on the odo when I returned. My driving was real world style without concern to fuel economy.
On the way there (from the Fresno area) driving 70-80 and usually in the upper end, up and down hills, unknown wind, I got ~ 18.5 mpg. On the return trip same driving speed and style I got ~19.5 mpg.
I had read negative fuel reports on the Ecos, so when I went for a test drive I had my mind made up that if the particular truck was a pig I was going to pass on it. On the test drive down the freeway at 68 mph for 3 miles It showed 21.5 mpg. On the return it was 20.9 mpg. I figured it was good enough and the rest is history.
I know my report is not very scientific, but it is real world. Personally I think the obsession about Eco mpg is all due to that stupid little meter they put on the insturment panel

It's all relative....
I'm sitting right at 18mpg average mixed driving with 1500miles on the odo.
My previous ride with a custom tune running premium gas was at least 2mpg less.
Out of the box I'm pretty happy with mpg....if it improves so much the better!
I never assume to get the rated mpg for the truck is so I am not disappointed at all....

I'm averaging about 16.x right now in mixed driving. I make a 10mile drive on the hwy daily, but mileage still in the 15-17range until it warms up fully, which is about 6miles down the hwy, and the drive back home is sitting in traffic.
Just did my first tow, pulled my Miata on a small single axle for a ~300 mile round trip to the track and my avg for the trip was 16.3 which i'm fine with. only about 3k in tow, and got the truck to pull a bit bigger trailer and car, if i can be in the 15's with only 1500 miles on the truck it should only get better i hope.
