Right, but if its just rattling again with no codes its probably not the chain. Did they replace the tensioner when they did the chain?
I had my chain and tensioner replaced 10,000 miles ago, starty up rattle came back after 7000 miles. Truck still runs fine with this condition

So on your original chain, chain stretched and threw a code for timing? And then the second chain stretched and also threw a code for timing? After how many miles? Do you have a code now? Something else is not right if its chewing through chains that fast. Most people that have the chain replaced experience a rattle sound shortly after, but most haven't seen a code reappear for timing. Most are getting their timing checked because of the rattle and its still within spec.

First timing chain was replaced at 111,000 kms ( P0016 code present )
Second timing chain replaced at 166,000 kms ( P0016 code present )
Third timing chain is now making rattle like the previous two were no codes yet. 175,000 kms, This is how it starts it gets noisey and gets worse and worse until you have to replace the chain and tensioner.
I know it isn't normal to go through timing chains, thus my Frustration with FORD CANADA. I have never EVER replaced a timing chain on any vehicle prior to owning this buck of bolts. Even my eagle talon which I thought was a bad design had timing belts that would last longer than this crap. Key word here is BELTS not CHAINS...

How about you sell the truck instead of dumping a bunch of money into it?

At the rate you have been going, good luck. Thats a lot of repairs..
My old truck was nickle and diming me. I finally got tired of dealing with it and ditched it.

I understand where you're coming from, dcdaveguelph. I suggest continuing to work with your dealer, as they're your best resource at this time. I'll document your feedback in our system. Please send over a PM with the VIN, dealer, your full name, and your phone number.

I had the grinding noise and rattle that was followed by a loss of power and the dreaded check engine light came on with a P0016 code present.
Looks like both times I caught the chain in time before serious damage could happen. Weird thing about it is Ford thinks this problem has to do with my oil changes. The tech asked me what is my normal timeframe for oil changes. I told him usually around 8,000 kms but I change the oil when the truck tells me to change it. I always use full synthetic oil with a synthetic oil filter as well.

And to your point it's best to keep dealing with the dealership to resolve the issues. That's funny this is a issue Ford Canada should be stepping up to the plate saying this isn't normal or right and should stand behind their "built Ford tough trucks". In other words what your telling me is "keep paying buddy keep paying"
