ECO LEMON ROLLS ON how to spend $5,000 in one month

I had the grinding noise and rattle that was followed by a loss of power and the dreaded check engine light came on with a P0016 code present.
Looks like both times I caught the chain in time before serious damage could happen. Weird thing about it is Ford thinks this problem has to do with my oil changes. The tech asked me what is my normal timeframe for oil changes. I told him usually around 8,000 kms but I change the oil when the truck tells me to change it. I always use full synthetic oil with a synthetic oil filter as well.

You are getting taken by the dealer if you are replacing the timing chain because of sound. The sound isn't the chain rattling.
I saw your sig, is there a reason why you wouldn't do the coils and vacuum pump yourself? You can get coils for around $200 and replace them yourself in 10 min, and the vacuum pump was like $300 and took me 30 min fooling around in a 30 degree garage. Seems like you are spending a lot of money on things that could easily be done yourself. I did not do my timing chain that was too much for me.

I did most of the coils myself ( 4 of them ), only the last time when the truck was in for the left side turbo Ford replaced two coils ( cylinders 1, 3 ) trying to figure out why the truck was running so bad. The first vacuum pump I replaced on my own after Ford told me $650 for the part and another $650 to install ( BTW 10 minute job FORD took longer getting the tools than doing the actual job). This time they said they would wave the install cost probably because I was already in almost two grand with the cost of the turbo being replaced.

Its not the chain rattling, theres a whole thread about the start up rattle. Are you noticing it after a long sit and it does it on cold start?
3,000 mile full synthetic oil changes is what I am doing, don't go by what the truck tells you.

Good feature the truck has then, lol so I will go back to 5,000 km changes and see what happens. But the chain rattle is back and I am not even at my first oil change since the repair.

I think there is a mis understanding. I didn't replace the chain due to noise. The truck lost all power, in other words the tensioner was as far as it could go and there was too much slack in the chain for the truck to operate properly and the timing was out twice. I had to be replaced.

Right, but if its just rattling again with no codes its probably not the chain. Did they replace the tensioner when they did the chain?
I had my chain and tensioner replaced 10,000 miles ago, starty up rattle came back after 7000 miles. Truck still runs fine with this condition
