Eco Boost turbo whistle
#11
wait. what?
with my 2014, I could hear the turbos spooling when it was completely stock if I feathered it just right but only at lower speeds.
after adding an Airaid intake, I could hear it at higher speeds, if I got on the gas enough to build some boost, but not enough for it to downshift.
with both the Airaid intake and MBRP 4" catback it was pretty noticable, again just feathering it while trying to keep it in a higher gear because once I open it up I hear more of a droning from the intake rather than spooling, and the exhaust gets pretty loud.
I'm going to be installing my MAK catless downpipes this weekend and will probably remove the Airaid intake and put the stock assembly back in. I don't care for the sound it makes at WOT and the gains from intakes on this truck are negligible anyway.
on both my Subaru STI and my Focus ST, the spooling was incredibly loud with just a cold air intake. however, for some reason that is not the case on these trucks. if you want more turbo spool, exhaust is definitely the way to go.
