This is a common misconception by those not familiar with factory forced-induction (FI) engines. It actually couldn't be further from the truth. Factory FI engines are typically built with large safety margins, so gaining big power is usually very easy. The Livernois tuned EB is making 70 rwhp over stock with just a tune. Adding some other bolt-ons will net even more. For the hardcore guy who's willing to spend >$5k on a supercharger, the 5.0 will make more power. But for the typically Joe who will buy a tune, CAI, and exhaust, the EB will make more power.

You dont have to worry about the intercooler of the eco and can add a hidden winch. If you had a need to do light and occasional plowing and added a light plow, again the 5.0 looks better to me for that. The ecoboost is almost maxed as far as power and torque, although tuners are out and giving good numbers, the 5.0 probably has the higher potentiial power/torque with mods.
Tons of INCORRECT info here. Tons.

Generally its a bad idea to hang a plow off the front of any f150 regardless of 5.0 or EB....... the electric power steering presents a problem.

Also.. the 3.5 EB has a factory forged crank, forged rods and 6 bold main caps... The 5.0 has a cast crank. these are facts not opinion.

If you were to take the same 6-8 thousand dollars you would spend on a blower for a 5.0 and instead invest it into stand alone engine/fuel management and upgraded turbo/s you would have a Ecoboost that would destroy any off the shelf blown 5.0.... the problem with this is the knowledge to do something like this to the EB is not there yet........ you'd be a poineer.

Now... im not sure on the 5.0s strength vs the 6.2 but there are PLENTY of supercharged 6.2s who blown their guts out within a very short period of time after being supercharged.

That $6k blower kit is going to cost these 6.2 owners closer to 15k or more once they blow the motor and have to fully forge the bottom end.

Factory motors which are not turbo/super charged simply are not built as strong as those that are....

In the end it all depends on how much $$ you want to spend. If your limit for modding is a few thousand dollars............. Ecoboost all the way.

[QUOTE=gimmie11s;1487970]Did you really just start a thread saying that you "arent sure but do plan on using the search."

wow..........

Maybe if you actually read the post you would not have commented on it?

As I stated I am doing research thru the search function. For the record I dont need help finding it. It seems like every a hole that has nothing to do has to post comments with big arrows as to where the search function is. Thanks for nothing!!
I have a list of my own with pros/cons that I have been jotting down as I go thru the hundreds of post in the search function.
I was simply looking for anything off the top of ones mind as to pros/cons that I may have missed or have not been posted

Thanks to all that posted positive comments! Much appriciated!!!

Your Welcome to all that have nothing better to do than blast this post with your own negativity. I will now abandon this thread as I dont want to read thru all of the useless BS that you continue to post. Just stay away from the thread if you dont like it.

the 5.0 was designed with DI and forced induction in mind, it will handle more than you think. they figured they might as well design it to handle the upgrades right away so they could save on re-engineering and retooling later. They did say one part would need to be upgraded to handle more than 10-12 psi but I dont remember what it was anymore.

one other thing (which may or may not be an issue for you) is that it seems there are fewer options for mounting aftermarket accessories to the front end. I suspect it has to do with nobody wanting to block the intercooler opening. I'm sure more stuff will become available as parts get redesigned to ensure airflow across the intercooler remains.

honestly, if I hadnt gotten the deal I did on a leftover that happened to have the 5.0, I'd have probably gone with an EB. In the end, either engine would do what I need it to do so it wasnt a huge factor in my decision.

Default Ecoboost over 5.0

If you want a motor with the best power and mpg then go with the Ecoboost, if a great sound is what you want get a 5.0.
I have had My 2011 Ecoboost sense last fall it has over 10,000mi on it and no problems so far. I tow with mine alot, and you can't beat the power it never runs out of power. I get 21.6mpg most weeks going to and from work, part city mostly freeway, driving 6-65mph.
It pulls better then my old truck with a 460 ci. And gets the same trailer up a steep mountain pass better then a frends V10 dodge.

I have to say that even though I have not copped an attitude since I bought my Ecoboost, I have noticed that the matrons at my Baptist church all go silent when I drive up and won't make direct eye contact with me.

Are you really still hanging your hat on this? You do realize that model is not available with the Eco engine. Oh wait, you do, you're just being a Loki.
