Eco-Boost Pros/Cons???
I am looking at the new Eco-Boost Fords. Can anybody recommend or not recommend the setup. Also are there any major issues to look out for? Mechanical issues or recalls? I will be doing lots of research thru the search. Just looking for off the top of your head thoughts. Thanks

Has anyone every looked at the resale value of these two engines?
I just went to KBB and checked a 2011 Eco Verses the 5.0 in a 2011 XLT 4x4 screw with 20,000 mi.
5.0 retail 32,762 Eco 35,297. All I ask is weather you like the Eco or not what other 750.00 option could you put on a 2011 F150 that would return a 1785.00 dollar premium after expenses. My area code I used for KBB was 62701.
I realized that Ford raised the price of the 2012 but if the resale of the ecoboost holds up its the best buy.

I will give you my biased opinion. The ecoboost was the best $750 i ever spent I have a 2011 Feb build date that I bought from dealer stock in May. I just turned 11,000 miles on the clock and have"0" isues with it. the truck is getting slightly better than the posted MPG it goes like stink and pulls almost like a diesel. so if you want a truck to drive get one if you want a v8 sound get a 5.0 and if you want the best fuel economy get a 3.7 you wont be dissapointd whichever way you go.

Ecoboost wins in every performance aspect with the exception of using slightly more gas when towing but that minimal gas difference makes up for a large difference in towing experience.

The only issue that I've heard of that is ecoboost specific is there have been several people here that had their truck go into limp-mode when going WOT to pass on the freeway.
What Ford has said they suspect is that the inter cooler is too efficient and there is a possibility that condensation can form inside the cooler when traveling at a constant throttle (ie cruise) and then when the sudden change in air flow through the inter cooler it strips away this condensation and gets sucked into the engine causing misfires and going into limp mode. I guess it's more prevalent in more humid climates.
I haven't had this happen, and I would venture to say most here haven't either....but there have been a handful of people that have. Ford says the're working on a solution for this. When that comes out I would think a recall might happen, but if not, a TSB at the very least.
