I went from a chevy Silverado Z71 with a 5.3L to a 2013 with the eccoboost and love the truck. I love the response from the Eccoboost overmy. chevy. I Have not experienced some of the problems that are talked about in these threads. Currently have just over 13k miles on her.

I'd buy another. I owned an early build 2011 for 3.5 years and didn't have any issues at all with that truck. It ran perfect as is so I never had any TSBs or programming updates done to it. I just got bored and wanted a new truck so I traded it. I've owned my 2014 Ecoboost for 5 months and so far it has been amazing.

We have over 30 EcoBoost F150's at work, and have not had one problem with any of them. Some of the units are approaching 75,000 miles. We currently have additional 2015 EcoBoosts on order.

Had a 2011 with 82k miles on it with zero problems and traded for a 15 Eco .. Love the torque and I've always averaged closer to the highway rating vs the city

I have bought another one myself actually I had a 2011 and drove it two years and put 50k miles on it. Not one issue, never went to the dealer for anything.

Bought my '13 in August of 2013 and have put almost 30k miles on this one. Had two cosmetic issues that dealer caused and fixed and did have the gasket on the HPFP seep oil onto the valve cover. All easy fixes and quickly resolved.

Have a new house being built and first child on the way now so it will be awhile before I replace this one

I've had a bunch of timing chain problems with this engine and I'd really have to think long and hard if I'd want another. I love the power of the engine, but has Ford addressed the chain problems? If I knew that for certain, then I'd pony up. However, Ford is being mum on the issue, so I don't really trust them. Beside, I really want a 8' box so I'd probably go with a F350.

Does anyone really understand what the issue with the timing chain is? Is it because there just seems like yards of chain? Is it a bad spec On the chain and so it stretches too easily? Is it poor tensioners that allow too much slop in the chain and that causes stretch?

Fuel dilution/too long oil change intervals I believe is one of the main causes. The dealer was trying to sell me on the idea there was some sort o ring on the spring of the tensioner that leaks oil past it and causes the tensioner to lose tension. First I had heard of that not sure I believe it. When I get it back it will be getting full synthetic every 3,000-4,000 miles.
