Default EB Intercooler Grills

Are we sure these grills/mesh insert's will not block air flow? Void warranty?

I ask because I hit a bird a few days ago and it scared the hell out of me, thought it took out my IC.

If Ford saw this as a problem, wouldn't they put a grill on in the 2012 refresh?

I think w are creating a problem that doesn't exist

I have a gauge that shows intake air temp (I'm guessing after the intercooler). I monitored the readings before and after installing mine. There is no difference in temps. Drive any speed over 20 mph for a minute or more and intake temps come down and are pretty much within a degree or two of ambient.

I put on the grille primarily to cover that big hole and make it look a little better.

Here are some pictures of the Carriage Works Grill:

Part #44383 is black. No drilling. Phillips screw driver is only tool needed. Cost is $87.64.

Link: http://www.autopartsdealer.com/carri...p278566-p.html

Hardware includes grill, brackets and backing strap, u-clips for the screws that insert into holes of the brackets and backing strap, 4 machine screws

Another view of hardware:

Picture of the bracket mounted and screwed into the back strap through the big hole of the truck bracket:

I know that my pics are not the best, but maybe it will give you an idea. The grill and hardware came with instructions and is very easy to install. Only thing I did was to snug up the screws to keep brackets from moving and to get everything lined up. Then I tightened all screws up.

Very good quality and I wasn't disappointed. Glad I bought this.

I believe that leaving it open for the life of the vehicle won't cause a problem for 99% of drivers - as some examples -

2007 GMC Sierra 2500HD Diesel - Big smiley hole with no grille and a CAC behind it -

2003 Freightliner - Large smiley mouth hole with charge air cooler behind it

2006 Freightliner S/T - Notice that the gaping mouth hole is just as large as it was for the 2003 Freightliner.

2008 Kenworth T-660 - This truck has a smaller hole than the Freightliners, but it still has a fairly large opening with no grille behind it.

2011 Volvo VN-730 - A larger hole than the Kenworth or Freightliner

2011 Volvo VN-730 after hitting a turkey - Zoom in on the picture, you can SEE where the bird hit the CAC. Didn't need replaced.
