Not sure how much different it sounds with one tune vs. another but mine is the best sounding Ecoboost I've ever heard. Unfortunately I don't have a smart phone or any way of making a sound clip. What I do have is a 3" catless downpipe, a 3" 6.2L resonator and stock catback with the 2.5" flexpipe section before the muffler replaced with 3" pipe.

I've noticed a difference in sound between the T4 and T5 SSI tune. Sounds better with T5.

I know the brief time I was running even a 5 Star tune my truck sounded a lot better to me. But maybe that's because I couldn't hear my truck missing like it's running on 5 cylinders either....

Shaking is often the first sign. But it also can be detected by obd scanners like torque and some tuners. Though someone else should chime in to let you know which ones.

Ford uses the DBW system to limit intake noise by limiting throttle angle at low rpm. Most, if not all of the tuners get rid of this "feature", which gives the engine more intake noise.
