Default doesn anyone else really dislike the 5.0?

I am very displeased in my 2014 5.0 the performance. Of course I'm coming off of a 6.2 Raptor to this new XLT due to a total wreck. I haul a 14 foot trailer with a Polaris Ranger total combined weight of approximately 2900 pounds. Its like its driving with the brakes on. 3.73 gears in the rear Crew cab six and a half foot bed. I can put my foot halfway through the pedal and it still will not downshift it wants to stay in the gear highest possible. All for the sake of the good old mpg which I do not care about. 2nd and 3rd gear each feels like it has 2 stages. From what ive been told its due to the torque converter. Whatever im not happy. If i put my foot half way down id think the teuck should downshift but no stays in 2nd or 3rd gear. Hell while pulling my trailer and ranger it will stay in 5th gear cause it really struggles in 6th. Not happy

Put your shifter into "manual mode" and control the transmission yourself.

I tow my Polaris RZR with my 5.0 truck with 3.73s and have zero issues. I can pass going up hills and everything. Hope your truck doesnt have some issue you havent found yet. My 5.0 is very peppy. I wouldnt think twice about buying another.

I dont think any engine on the F-150 lineup would blow you away coming from a Raptor. If you dont care about MPG, I would get a custom tune for added performance... especially with towing.

My 5.0 downshifts quite readily at approx half throttle. Might be worth getting it checked out. Might be you just need to put a little more foot into it.

Should have bought an ecoboost...and tuned it.

Pull the battery and let it discharge, then make it relearn with more agressive driving.

Or like said above, get a tune from one of the several tuners out there.

Are you towing in tow-haul mode?

Always in tow/haul mode. I wanted the eco boost but couldn't find one set up with the other features i wanted. It just feels sluggish still after a year of driving it.

I purchased a 2014 with a 5.0 this year. Since I'm the most intelligent man in the world, I immediately replaced the dog 5.0 with a surplus Saturn 5 rocket engine. I can darn near haul anything I want. Having problems with emissions, however.

Get a tune and you'll be a lot happier. Made hell of a lot of difference for me.
