Not intentionally fanning the flames here at all, but I will attest to the dozens of posts (potentially well over 100 if we lump them all together) made by Shawn and a series of his hired hands that we removed . I don't know how he is now, but back when he was here and shortly after he left he was DEFINITELY not someone I would send my hard earned monies to. Again, that was then.

All in all its a **** situation. I'm sure the guys at SSI wanted his truck to perform well, who wouldn't?

On the other point, he fact that Shawn doesn't communicate well through email is his prerogative. It's his business. Does it possibly hurt the size of his customer base, definitely a little. Does it mean hes a bad tuner, absolutely not. He seems to be doing just fine and has a fairly loyal and large customer base that loves his tunes. I would be one of those and would recommend his tune to anyone. Hell, I'm trying to get my brother in law to get his Explorer Sport tuned with SSI.

I'm glad OP got his truck running the way he wants, and hopefully he has many many years of big smiles with the EcoBoost.
Well said. Couldn't agree more.

I should have done more research before picking him as a tuner honestly. A quick google search shows this type of behavior has gone on for a decade now. He was really popular in southern California as a tuner on a SVT forum in 04-05 and was then banned from that site sometime in 07. The reviews went from good to bad around that time also with people advocating avoiding him like the plague up to around 12.

Been a lot of heat on both sides of this issue, but I think this has been a very informative thread. I'd like to thank the OP for posting, and all the contributors. I am about ready to add a tuner to my truck and was thinking of going with SSI for a custom tune. I will definitely not do that now, even though some people have had great experiences, it appears there is a lot of room for improvement from SSI. Why take the risk. Go with some of the other guys that are proven and have good customer service, and are sponsors of this forum.

Because like most, you likely will end up there eventually anyway.

This is nothing more than a .net spill over and purposed intent by a few that frequent that site to bash a tuner and hype what amounts to quite inferior tunes.

At the end of the day, these are folks that do want to run the tunes from Shawn but are no longer able because of their own behavior. They just cannot take accountability.

To each person deciding to run performance tunes, you will have to decide if you are going to succumb to peer pressure ala high school, or spend a couple hundred dollars evaluating tunes from each of the tuners to decide for yourself which you want to run in your truck....

Bawhahahahaha!!! Oh, c'mon Lenn. Don't be coy. Yes you indeed intend to fan the flame. The real shame is that a couple of members cleaned up the war without any help from you whatsoever - though there is one Mod who has enough wherewithal to have assisted, thankfully. .Net has absolutely no one and that is why it remains a trash heap - where incidentally good ole Rocky spends most of his time. It's no coincidence to see the bash followed by the endorsement of LET which is a .net bastion.

Lenn, as I just said to Doug: It is a fantastic idea to send your money to SSi - if in fact you want the best tunes and support available. Who else would you send money to: LMS? Haven't been relevant fuhevuh; MPT? Tuning that is flat out a mess once Mike starts trying to play away from base; Erick? He's still trying to learn where the water is let alone getting his feet wet; 5*? safe but then why leave stock in the first place? etc. et al.

People are spending their hard earned money. Stay out of it and let them make a smart choice.

And yet, between 5*, LET, SCT and SSI - SSI was the only one that effectively rendered my cruise control in-operational and couldn't figure out how to fix it.

All the power in the world means nothing when you can't get basic functionality right.

If you are happy good for you. Too bad you will miss what most who have use an Ssi tune will say is the strongest and smoothest current use out there. I understand your frustrations - I honestly do. But I do think you miss some of the points raised here in the thread you created with intent to publicly express your perception of what happened. If you have ever been on a forum (and I hear that you are on at least one other one) you should know opinions vary and you will rarely have 100% consensus. Not sure why this is so upsetting to you that you feel the need to keep at it. Doubt this will change your mood or actions, but to be mentally healthy - maybe let it go as you won't ever get consensus on this.

Just to make things clear here, if you are going to tune your truck especially with an aggressive tune you need to make sure everything is physically right with the truck. All this crap would be avoided in the first place.
