not to boast, I was excited to get this email.. feedback from a head-honcho at BorgWarner who ordered our exhaust last week and installed it over the weekend. he emailed us:


“I ordered and installed the Full-Race resonated exhaust for the F150 Ecoboost and WOW, what a difference! I could immediately feel the improvement in throttle response and low end torque, just as promised on the web site and dyno results. It is apparent that Full-Race has done their homework from the packaging all the way down to the fitment and looks of this exhaust. the nice thing about the 2013 turbos is they will not require any fueling upgrades on the 2011/2012 trucks. id love to do a back to back hotswap test on these, but thats just way too messy and time consuming. we will have to schedule this over 2 days, the stock turbos are not easy to work on and the "quick-disconnect" fittings are anything but

thats a good question - and the answer is "it varies". How much meth, and is it 100% meth or 50% water/50%meth? The power potential for 100% meth is quite a bit higher, however there are a lot of precautions needed for this and we just arent there yet with the PCM.

When our single turbo kit is released we will have the fueling solidly in place for our intended boost targets and the fuel used. Right now our single turbo Freakoboost truck is still on 100% stock fueling system and using 91 octane pump, we are trying to nail down what the max safe potential is exactly, nobody really knows yet. We're currently peaking at 24.4psi in the midrange and we taper it down to 16psi at the higher rpms due to fueling (and do not want to overspeed the turbo.) The peak numbers HP #s are not what we're after right now, its the TQ and midrange area we want the most.

High boost fueling on the larger turbos and/or twin turbos is a different story altogether and there are too many question marks out there at the moment to say what will be the 'end all' solution. I believe Mike B (mtxpert) is on the right track I consider this ecoboost fueling solution a marathon, not a sprint since there are so many ways to do it! whether custom cams/fuel pump/DI's is the way OR if the addition of PI on top of the DI is the way (its certainly the most plausible) who can say

Also our truck is still running the stock exhaust manifolds - becuase theyre simple, strong, inexpensive and look stockish, also its the only way to package the turbos where ford puts the stockers. For our single turbo kit however Im dying to see what gains a tubular exhaust manifold will gain on our single kit... might get into that once our oil cooler and EB intake project is completed

Hi Ben - in this case 2013 turbos are probably going to make the most sense.

This is a great thread, and I will order an Exhaust system from Full race as soon as I recover from buying the truck and the Livernois tune. I also in the near future will purchase the Intercooler.

I want to hear more about the 2013 Turbo differences since I have a 13.

levittownfordsupercenter.com you can get the turbos' for about 500 each
now this is my first turbo im usually a mustang NA or SC guy .. so i dont know if 500 each is alot or a good deal
but i have ordered ALOT from them ..
mike is great and about 30% off parts you cant go wrong

I know they spin about 30,000RPMs higher. 170K vs 200k for the 13's. I just got a tune and I'm very happy but some of us 13' guys need to hit the track and see if the numbers are any better.

Geoff, can the 13's handle more boost efficiently if we had more fuel?

more turbo speed isnt always better :/ matter of fact bigger turbos tend to slow down.

Granted though they couldve added a vane/blade or changed the pitch slightly and if the wheels are close in size that is what wouldve made the rpm change. I am ready to see some drop in wheels...

I know doug @ frankenturbo is notorious for rewheeling the vw/audi BW K series turbos with great results.

I started to get excited about the possibility of fuel system upgrades. Then I saw the price on fuel injectors, $39 a piece. I work for a fuel injection manufacturer and I can tell you it's going to be hard to find anyone interested in modding the current fuel injector for a price under $100.

I don't know if you'll find many or any injectors that will be able to fit in the stock location. I'm not sure how they engineered them, whether the injector size was engineered to fit the engine or whether the injector location and mounting was engineered to a standard injector size.

I would be interested and hearing how the fuel system is being addressed for higher hp applications. I might just buy a few injectors to play around with myself.

I think it is precision turbo that is currently already in the process of offering to rebuild them with larger wheels and an extra vane.

so if I read things correctly it is recommended that IF we can find some 13' turbos we should get them for our 11-12' EB, then when we upgrade to some of the new FR stuff coming out we'll be much better off?

Remember these are direct injection injectors not regular injectors, much different beast. Also in order to take advantage you will have to upgrade the high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) by going either with duals like the BMW and Mercedes or a bigger surface area on the piston. I follow the Mazdaspeed guys because their platform came out in 2006, they've given getting enough fuel from the DI setup and are now piggybacking PI on top of it, the same thing I'm currently installing this week on my Flex. I'll be able to report back some finding on my transverse ecoboost V6 on stock (smaller than yours) turbos with E85 within 2 weeks. Hoping to see well over 400WHP/450WTQ on my baby GT15's on E85 - that HP level got me to mid 12's on my Flex with my nitrous setup.
