Decision time! 3.5 or 6.2

I am surprised Ford has not added cylinder deactivation tech into their V8s! This will most likely happen in the future as another selling point and I know Direct Injection will be added to the V8s in the very near future.

I have a friend that just bought a new Silverado with a 5.3L which has cylinder deactivation. He installed a Magnaflow dual exhaust system on it this weekend. Now when it switches to 4 cyl mode, the exhaust makes an annoying sound, similar to a Honda Civic with a big muffler on it.

Well from what I have read is the the 6.2 get better milage while towing due to the fact that it has more power as in hp. Torque gets you going but hp keeps you rolling. That being said the 6.2 has 50 or so more hp. Now torque will help on hills but you engine will be screaming on a good grade and the 6.2 has the power up in the rpm rang.
On my 6.2 with the lie meter for city driving it is 14mpg on the high way it is 19 mpg. I haven't been out with my trailer yet but I'm hoping for about 12 to 13 mpg with my 6800 lbs dry travel trailer.
For me the 6.2 is the way to go when pulling long distances. I also have the 3.73 rear LSD no locker with the limited lariat.

6.2 has mad power. I pulled my 7600 pound 29ft travel trailer through Michigan and don't think the truck went above 3900 RPM more than twice.
Lots of torque. Mileage on new truck was like 8 mpg at best though. Lots of hills.

A factor!
My truck , F150 ecoboost 8 ft. bed. was ordered Dec. 30. The April 18 ETA date is 1/3rd of a year away from delivery, two weeks before we pull a trailer to California.
If ordering, go for an ecoboost 2012 as you will not get the truck until you have lost a year's depreciation.!
