Common Myths about the Ecoboost
#22
Keep in mind that there are always new owners so repeating info. is not a bad thing. Those who know it already can just skip the post. I'm new with an Ecoboost and I assumed the turbos where like some diesel's turbos, that is oil cooled, but still benefited from letting them cool down after a hard, hot pull. They may not need it but if I pull a high pass with my travel trailer at 100 degrees I'm still not going to pull over at the top and quickly shut the engine off! I think I'll let it idle for my peace of mind!

You are right! My 2012 4x4 Screw Ecoboost tows my 23' trailer great! It has about 2/3rds the power of a GM Duramax Diesel which is pretty good, with a much better ride, and around town mileage for 15K less! Best choice out there, and I've had them all!

I traded in an F250 6.0 PSD for the eco and have not looked back for a second. It is WAY more refined ride and dare I say pulls my 26' TT even harder than my F250 did. Fuel economy sucks towing at 70 MPH, (about 7.5 to 8 MPG) but power is definately not the problem. I've had the truck for about 10 months now and I absolutely LOVE it. It is by far the best all around vehicle I've ever owned. I love so many aspects about this truck. Thank you for starting this thread, great reminders for the underinformed.

I took a trip last week to CA through Denver. I couldn't get over how the EB just purrs up that mountain. While I wasn't pulling anything, just the fact it went up in 6th gear without any strain was amazing. There were cars that couldn't keep up with me.
The trip of 4000+ miles netted 21 MPG. Bang right where EPA said it would!

I do love that. I also love how well it keeps it's speed going up hills doing less than 2,000rpms while others are slowing down and down shifting into the higher revs. Having someone pass you on the flat while on cruise control only to pass them going up the hill just a few seconds later is priceless. I have had a few people think I was racing them a couple of times because of this. I just smile and wave while I enjoy hearing those turbos sing going up the hills.
