I've got about 1000 miles on the ngk I step colder plugs gapped to .030. 13.9 @ 97 seems normal for a full weight 4x4 platinum but those pics don't look good to me. What's the deal with the white color? All of the stuff I've read says the white is a product of tuning. Either too lean or detonation. Could it be the tuners fault?

Here are some NGK LTR7IX-11s with 2000 miles on them. I put in NGK LTR6IX-11s when I pulled these this morning. I do not believe going to colder plugs will work for me on my Eco.

Ford has already adjusted the heat range for the higher compression so technically the LTR7 is really two steps colder than ideal for optimal plug self cleaning. I am tempted to try hotter than spec plugs (LTR5IX-11) but need to establish baseline on these plugs first. IMO the 7's are way too cold, especially for a DI engine.

What you will have to monitor on those plugs is the carbon buildup. Pull one in a few thousand and compare.

I am currently having the highest mpg tank since new. At half a tank I'm at 19.1mpg average. That's with the horrible colder NGKs. If it goes down or my truck gets slower I'll pull the plugs. I'll definitely keep checking this thread for updates though.

Just want to say great post boosted150, with all the talk about spark plugs go's to show us that we are not going to out smart Ford. They have done the homework on combustion temps and flame fronts and what works best for power and efficiency. Go stock plugs with gaps set towards the tight side of .033. Once again thank you for posted up real world results.

better looking than geno
So I pulled mine to see...
From left to right, brand new autolite xp5364, xp 5364 with 2000 miles, stocks with 5000 miles. The stocks were on a tune 3000 (various tunes) of that.
No carbon...nothing at all.
I will say this, they have been on only Unleashed Tuning's 93 tune. Heat range could be different, these are one step below what autolite considers the stock equivalents and y'all have been posting NGKs.
