If a Platinum EB is what you want, then that's what you should get. You might want to consider waiting until the '12s come out, however, so that you can get the monster 36 gallon gas tank.

If you could stand the 2 month wait (sounds like you can't), then you could order one exactly the way you want it.

Lighting?

I can't think of any posts I have read where a 5.0 owner was unhappy! Both engines are great - buy either with confidence! Just remember that the max tow trucks have a slower steering ratio...

Glad this one hasn't gotten out of control yet. To the OP, you've driven both - sounds to me like you much prefer the EB. I agree with the others, you should buy the truck you want not settle for something else.

If the dealer wanted your business, they'd search the region and transfer the vehicle you want to their dealership, for you. I had my FX4 S-CREW ECB transferred from 500 miles away to the dealership with no obligation to buy. Of course, I drove away in it 2 hours later when it showed up. As far as what engine? I've never owned anything but a V8 and never thought I'd ever be caught in a V6...fast forward 2011. The Ecoboost is very impressive in my book and as I've stated before, I put the purchase up there with my former 04' Lightning...all smiles when hitting the gas!!!

Good luck...you can't go wrong with either engine.

I loved the 5.0 but bought the eco because of my big block and diesel torque addiction. I love it.
If your the type of person that is always going to wonder 'what if ' if you bought the 5.0 then go order a 2012. The wait goes by quicker than you think and with prices so high on vehicles now why settle for anything other than what you want.

My recommendation is to get what you want - the ecoboost. If you dont you'll likely always wonder and wish you did. Bought enough cars/trucks to know that you will likely not be as happy as if you got what you really wanted in the first place.

The 5.0 is fine and sounds like you dont have any particular needs that would make you pick one over the other-but get what YOU want.

Eco is just more fun IMO. I ain't knocking the 5.0, turbo acceleration is unique and effortless. It still makes me laugh how much distance I put on traffic behind me because of how fast it accelerates without even getting that hard into the pedal.

I drove lots of 5.0L before getting the EB.
Came from a custom tuned and opened up 07 6L Chev....which was pretty good but still not as good as the 6.2L.
The 5.0L did not awe me and did not seem like a step up compared to my 6L....let alone the 6.2L.
The EB did tho and that's why it's sitting in the garage.
Drive em and pick the one you want....it's your money!
