Default Called tuning place about my S/C and headers, want your opinions

So I called Shawn at AED... talked for about 20minutes, I have mixed feelings now.

1st, he complained about tuning issues with magnuson s/c on a 5.0 he did. He said it was a pain to tune certain things and one of those was the injectors. He asked which injectors I had and I thought I remembered them being the same as the gt500 but now I think I was mistaken. He said he wouldn't tune it if it was those injectors. I took my injectors out of the box to see what they are and honestly I'm not sure what they are. Maybe you guys can help me out, here's a picture of them. If you know what injectors these are and their specs please help me out. He wants me to buy some injectors that will run me $1000.

2nd, He doesn't think the headers are worth it. At first he thought the 5.0 had the mustang headers but I corrected him. He stated that the mustang headers are very good and would recommend them over my long-tubes for tuning purposes. He clarified by saying that my headers place the O2 in the wrong location and too far away from the heads so they will be too cold at idle/very low throttle to get a reading from so he'd have to use just the MAF sensor. He said that it might only get a reading from one cylinder which is not a good place to read from. He's right, I looked and it's just one cylinder(see picture, on the right you can see the bung). Do you guys think this is a valid problem? I haven't heard of any problems with these yet but there are not many running they either. They are the American Racing 1 7/8".

3rd, he said he'd been doing tuning on the ecoboost and that he made 390 RWHP and it would only go 13.8 down the track. This seemed really low to me, maybe they used street tires in 2wd with traction control on? IDK. So he said with the power of my kits I wont make it into the 12s without a smaller pulley and I probably can't do that on pump 91 gas.
This thread is about my kit so let's minimize the ecoboost talk.

This is where Lance got his truck dynoed and he is conservative on his tunes. But that doesn't mean he don't know what is good or bad. If your going with a dyno tune call a few in your area and see who suits your needs or wants. If you think you know more pick the guy that sees things your way, if the tuner is in your opinion is smarter than you go with him. It's your money at the end of the at the end of the day. If you already bought the parts and doubt who will install them find your man

I'll install everything myself(besides the exhaust behind the headers, I'll have a shop do that).

I'm here asking questions, I'm not assuming that I'm smarter than the tuner. He said he wouldn't want to remote tune my truck because of it's unique makeup will be the first that he does. It's only $100 more for dyno tuning and he'll street drive it too.

Found this through google. The end of the description list the same numbers as yours.

And most everything I've read dealing with tuning forced induction, in-person or real time remote access is the best way. Especially since you have such a unique set up. Data logging and correcting email tunes could get time consuming.

Sounds like that tuner is lazy or is unsure on how to tune correctly. The reason I say that is because back when I was in the truck performance biz, over the years I had built 3 F150s w/5.4 all with similar bolt ons as yours using the magna charger kit. The tune that was included w/ the MC was way off each time. After several calls, emails, datalogs I resorted to a local tuner. The first truck took him about 2 days to figure out and tune correctly. Drive-ability was night and day. I know the 5.0 is a completely different animal, so what I'm saying is you want to find a different tuner to work with.

Lazy injectors with poor response will wreak havoc on any tuner. Why do you think IDs and other top tier brands are so pricey vs an entry level Siemens? Accuracy, response time, recovery and predictability. If he suggests another injector, its for a reason. Pay for extended dyno time with spotty injectors or pay for better injectors and less dyno time. You're choice .

My post may have came off the wrong way. Sorry if it did. Basically what I was trying to say is that four different tuners may have four different opinions on what you have for mods, and different suggestions to you on what they think is the right combo for your truck.

It's one number off. The forth number on mine is a 0 and on there it's a 2. I found the same thing.

This is the closest thing I can find. They all say the same part number but have different flow rates. How do I know which one mine is?

My best guess is they are the 52lb. This calculator(http://witchhunter.com/injectorcalc1.php) says I should be good to about 560HP(using .6 b.s.f.c.) with them safely.

I know what you mean, but this guy is only 2 hours away(which is close as far as I'm concerned) and he's a 25 minute drive from my buddy so I could stay at his place if he needed to keep it for two days.

Are you saying these are lazy injectors? I need to be able to ID them correctly so he knows what he's working with. I told him I thought they were GT500 injectors but I think I was wrong.

He charges a flat rate and frankly, if He get's it right I'd be willing to pay more for the extra time if needed.

I'm considering that. At the end of the year I'm going to Texas and could hit any shop between Chico, CA and there, I'll even be going through Socal on the way to drop a friend off. I'd really want to tune this while on California gas because that is where it will spend most of it's time. Cali gas is the ****tiest so if it works well on this gas it will only work better on higher quality gas(at least that's what I figure).

Torrie at Unleashed is very familiar with tuning supercharged Fords. He does Ford GT's and S/C'd Mustangs on a weekly basis. He remote dyno tunes as well.

When American racing first come out with those headers, I asked Sean about the 02 placement in those headers, because he is and was the guy tuning my truck....Sent pictures and all of the placement of the 02's and he said that it wouldn't cause any problems with the tuning. So what has changed now, because Ive been running those headers with my AED tune for about 20k miles? Mine is not supercharged either, but still.....
