It would be nice if we could get a charge pipe in there and throw on a synapse or Tial bov that would be a nice setup, I have had both on previous rides great equipment

It's a hiss. I've never owned anything that did the stutter, and I had a couple of pretty big Tial's. I can't imagine what would cause that.

Mike, look at the Borg Warner EFR info on full-race.com . Our turbos have a built-in recirculation valve on the compressor just like the EFR's and I'm not so sure there would be much benefit to monkey with that. I think the idea is to dump pressure right in front of the compressor wheel in order to reduce lag during transition. I do agree though, venting to atmosphere sounds pretty sweet!

I'm familiar with the built-in BPV. I'm nearly certain they did this just to reduce overall system complexity and cost. If you're BW and competing against Garrett, a built-in BPV would be a great selling point.

I don't think there is any advantage to venting the BPV just ahead of the compressor. It can't physically build any pressure or velocity there that would help with spooling. If anything, it's just adding heat to the inlet air.

Good points. Looking at a cross section of the built-in recirculation valve/housing, it seems that the pressurized air is vectored towards the wheel itself. Do you have any info on what the throttle plate is doing between shifts on these trucks (tuned)? I'm just trying to get an idea of how much work is being demanded of the recirculation system under WOT / hard acceleration. Kinda like flat-footing shifts with a manual vs backing off throttle between shifts.

These aren't directed towards the wheel. My scanner is a scangaugeII, which has a slow update rate, but it shows that the 5 Star and SCT still pull throttle on the shift, though not as severe as stock.

Took my BOV hoses off right at intake connection, covered intake side with plastic plugs and made a test run. Videoed it to share with everyone else. More or less makes a sound like a air blower at lower boost, such as cruise control at 40 on rolling hills. It's honestly not that much louder than through the intake, since tuning I've always played with the noise, like picking up RPM and letting go right before a downshift. Sorry about the shaky phone mount, still looking for a new one.

No speed limits were broken...if this video is a problem just let me know, people wanted to hear it...

I also have a short video (<1 mb) of some part throttle stuff with the stock exhaust. The 5Star tune really makes it sound-off at part throttle. I, however, don't have means to post the vid. Any volunteers?
