Agreed. The 6.2 is also "fun". Little thirstiest than the Eco but still fun.

I really like my 5.0 with a procharger on it, iv yet to come across an eco or raptor that can hang with me. And I haven't even put the headers on or custom tuned it yet. That being said if you don't plan on boosting a 5.0 or 6.2 than get the eco, nothing beats a boosted motor.

Unfortunately the 6.2 isn't an option for me as I need a 6 seater just in case I have to take the whole family for a spin.
I'm in Canada and have to say the used truck market is a challenge right now. The Canadian dollar is in the dumper right now and the dealers from US are buying everything at auction. Cant blame them I guess since its a 30% saving.

What's everyone's take on buying a higher mileage Eco out of warranty? Say with over 65k miles?

6.2 is a perfectly fine option for you... they came in XLTS in 2013 and 2014 with jump seat... I know because I own one. I should open the main site and see where you are in Canada but you can get a Ford truck fairly reasonably priced up here....

I'm just outside of Ottawa. Messing around on Autotrader I have come across some decent deals in Alberta.
If the right deal popped up I'd fly out and drive one back. One thing I've noticed about Alberta trucks is man you guys drive a lot. Lot's of high milers...
And thanks for setting me straight on the 6.2. I thought they only came in the Lariat and Harley models.
I'd like to stay under $25000, the closer to 20k the better.

We are cheaper... this site drove that home. My 13 XLT is a super cab 6.5' bed 4x4 that has the 302a package and the 6.2. There were actually quite a few 6.2 XLT crew cabs when I hunted for mine. I paid 29,950 plus gst for mine brand new last July as it was a leftover 13. Driving is... well is what is. I started this truck on as my company rig about this time in July of 2014 and it has just under 60000 kms on it now. Don't have a choice lol. My driving is all paid so I don't fret too much. I have FX4 crew cab 6.2 truck as well... and it's got around 31000 kms on it. A lot of my trips to even see friends are between 600 and 1000 kms.

Well you're in gods country up there that's for sure!
If you stumble across a deal on a well equipped 2012+ supercab eco I'm all ears. Just can't be black...I'm done with black vehicles.

I just bought a '11 F-150 4x4 with the eco-boost engine. it has just a shade over 28K miles on it. Is there anything that I can/may do to improve the vehicle besides regular maintenance and the general stuff you do to any vehicle?
We also have a '10 Flex with the same motor in it and she gets close to 20 mpg on the road. Should my mileage be approximately the same?

Make sure plugs are gapped to .030, run full synthetic oil, change every 5k miles.
I'm assuming the flex weighs less than your truck so it will get less mpg. Dang an 2011 with only 38k miles! Nice

I finally bought my new (used truck). Was leaning towards an ecoboost but couldn't resist a deal on a super clean 2012 4x4 supercab XLT/XRT 5.0, 3.73 locker. I picked it up in Red Deer Alberta and drove it back to Ottawa, 3600kms / 2240 miles and averaged 20 mpg on my way home. Best mileage I have ever gotten in a pickup truck ever. After one fill up my info centre read 740 miles to E. Nice!!!
Only negative is from a dead stop it seems to have way way less get up and go than my VMP tuned 5.4 it replaced. Oh well can`t have it all I guess.
