They start at $29 for a stripped one and all of the '11's have the max tow package, allowing the full 11,300 towing capacity. The only ones with the LSD rear have 3.73's, making it basically an ugly looking but equally performing version of the tremor. Interesting choice for a fleet of 57 hauling a light payload.

- Chris74 joined this month and posted that 17 of his 57 eb's had major engine damage. ChrisC74 also joined this month complaining his brand new platinum (EB no less) crapped out with only 1000 miles on the clock.

Not impossible, but an interesting coincidence for sure.

i actually noticed the same thing. didn't say anything because i didn't have any proof.

With this many repairs the owner must have the service documents available to post being a business and all, tracking expenses, taxes etc.
As usual, it's all BS until the proof is posted.
Show people your proof, post a half dozen maintenance bills itemizing your claimed failures.
You can black out your personal info. Any excuses not to do this will reveal a troll, posting proof will bring to light a serious issue and the attention it deserves.

ChrisC74 is not me!.....I don't have a platinum! I have a 2011 FX4 and like the truck.....no issues with it. Yes I am a new member here (joined to post about this issue) but I read the threads regularly and have been a long time member of other F-150 forums

Our company fleet has 126 vehicles. We have F-150's in many configurations. I was the fleet manager for 10 years at a company with a fleet of 45 trucks and we merged with another company on July 1st 2011 and I became the fleet manager of the new company. So I inherited a bunch of vehicles that where purchased by the other company's former fleet manager (A young lady).

I would have never purchased those trucks, in that configuration for our application. But the fleet manager doing the purchasing, let's just say she wasn't very knowledgeable in trucks. She certainly didn't understand payloads, gross vehicle weights, gear ratios, etc. etc. I was annoyed that these trucks had been purchased and rolled out in the field. I knew they weren't a good choice but she was sold on the idea that they would return amazing fuel economy.

I would bet that my fleet has some of the earliest 2011 ecoboosts out there and we have accumulated millions of combined km's on these trucks already. So it's a pretty significant sample size. Now that the trucks are getting 130,000+ km's on them the problems are cropping up.

Like I said, people can think I'm a troll, bull****ter, whatever.......nobody here has to believe me. I'm just here sharing my experience and telling you all that I think we have a serious problem with timing chains.

....and I think you will all soon see!

I appreciate your posts as it certainly helps us for our own preventative maintenance plan. You are in a unique position as you have lots of trucks and put lots of miles on them so you are doing some beta testing for us.
As a result of your posts, I am switching my oil changes from 10K miles to 7500 or 6000 miles and may have my timing chain replaced at 80K miles. I suspect I have a turbo starting to go bad judging by a "hamster wheel" noise when towing uphill and will have the dealer check that prior to towing season this spring.
Thanks again for the heads up.

Better question... What oil and oil filter? What is EXACTLY happening to the timing chains. Is there a tension er failing first? Chain breaking?

As a manager in charge of the fleet it would be easy for you to obtain some repair receipts of these trucks and post it here.
Many others have done the same to prove their point, you could step up and do the same instead of just leaving dire warnings.
You must understand the skepticism of such a serious problem with all the Ecoboost haters out there in the world. Doom and gloom scenarios since day one.

I would also like to know what maintenance intervals were used in these trucks. I suspect long intervals with fuel dilution would cause premature wear. That is why I'm doing 5,000 mile oci until I do an oil analysis. And I may never get to that.

Oil changes are not performed as meticulous as you or I will take care of our own trucks.

These trucks have oil changes performed all over Ontario. Some at dealers, some at small mom and pop type shops and some even at some fast lube type shops.

Our trucks run 7 days a week so it is up to the driver to get it serviced when he can (within the oil change intervals I request) and it is usually done at a convenient shop local to where the driver lives. So yeah, I'm sure sometimes it's bulk tank oil that isn't proper recommendation and a sub par filter.

I will post some proof for you guys in the near future. I have been in contact with my Ford rep this morning and he is escalating my issues to the next guy above him?? We'll see where it goes from here.

This nothing new, we have heard countless threads on the condensation CAC issue, bad cats, new coils, and so on, you just take anyone's post for what it is. Either there telling truth or not. But every truck and owner uses there truck differently, surely not fleet use.
