Blew my engine and replacing with Ford Racing Crate Engine
My ecoboost engine blew up and placed holes on either side of the block. Now you can see right through it. Anyway, I purchased a new Ford Racing crate engine to replace it. Not that I wanted another ecoblewst, but with all the wiring harness and ecu, I had to go that route. The crate engine has different turbos on it - Garrett GT15 and I'm pretty sure they are 48mm. And it doesn't have the top tube that connects to the turbo piping. Not sure if this is a redesign to address the issues these engines have. I sure hope it does. Question - Does anyone have any ideas why they would change that? I have attached pictures below.

Any diagnosis on how yours blew? I have seen others that have failed in the exact same manner! And Ford replaced them with no questions asked......wondering if Ford has an issue on their hands. Also seems to be over the past few months (from stock, to tuned and from multiple parties). I have read/heard about at least one from every major tuner out there.....and from people that are stock.

So it looks like maybe you got a new 2013+ model turbo. You are going to have to address your BOV as the 2011/12 model years had it on the Turbos, the 13's have an electronic BOV on the Intercooler.

Ouch, a mere 12K out of the warranty. Any issues prior to this?
If you've got it out I'd see if I could out what failed and replace it with a better component if possible.

We didn't dig into why it blew as it's out of warranty and tuned. It shot the rods out both sides so I assume the pins let go on the pistons. I was at wot went it happened. And yes i agree these engines have some serious issues. The new engine will NOT be tuned.
