Default Blackstone Report - 1st oil change

I like to run an oil analysis on my first oil change for a baseline. Blackstone seems to think all is normal for the first 1500 miles. I will run another one around 25K miles.

This is so cool. How much does it cost to do?

I hope to own my truck for 8-10 years and maybe doing this over the life of the vehicle could prove to be useful?

2011ECO: Swing by www.bobistheoilguy.com, go into the forums and select the used oil analysis section and check it out. Pretty cool; well, the whole site is pretty cool actually.

Nice... Glad to start seeing some Blackstone reports on the EcoBoost.

BG Products did some testing/eval on the 3.5L EcoBoost (Taurus version) and had some issues with fuel dilution of the oil for the first 30K miles if memory serves... Make sure you give them enough sample to test for fuel dilution next time!

Very interesting information. what does something like that run to have done, and how do you get the oil to them . Has anyone been able to determine if changing the oil early on in the break-in period actually affected break-in in any way plus or minus? always seemed like an old wives' tale, but last i paid attention people got religious about that.

I'm one of those that like to do the 1st oil change early to get any excess break in particles out early. Probably doesn't make any difference, but it's cheep insurance.

Back when I was hanging out on Mercedes Benz forums one of the GLK owners had a factory fill analysis done with the olm recommendation of 10k miles. Blackstone was aghast at the wear metals! Basically it was " silver soup" ! I always do my first oil change at 3k miles and will continue to do so because of this revelation.

I went 10,000 miles on my first change. I wonder how it did? Too late now.....
