Anytime I need heavy duty cooling in my FX4, I take it off of Auto by: selecting 70 as the temp, setting the fan speed to a sane level, and turning on the recirculation. Doesn't take long and these 100+ degree Houston days are taken care of. As a matter of fact, it isn't long before I am cutting the fan speed down to level 2 or 3 (bar graph on the display).

I think it has a lot to do with MPGs and on Auto maybe they are trying to run the compressor less and make up for it with air flow. We could speculate all day, but anyway, this is what I do and it works great!

Give it a whirl and get back to us on how it does!
Cheers!

My XLT had manuel air.......................not sure how I could duplicate your truck..................................maybe I'll try turning up on the temp ****,,,,,tricking the mgp gauge........................mostly its a real pain in the ***...........I bought a 35K truck and I have to run my A/C at level 3 or 4 just to stay as cool as I can..........Ford needs to re-program the computer to keep the compressor running all the time.....like in the good ole days.........it really sucks to have your compressor cut off every 30 seconds when its 95 degress outside and you just got in your truck after it sat in the parking lot all day and its hot as hell outside!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the XLT if you put the **** on cold, then push AC and Recirc and select the vents-only position you'll duplicate what he's doing.

My XLT's air conditioner doesn't seem to work well at all if I'm sitting still, I have to be moving. Due to the electric fans?

It's only been warm enough one day this year to even try the air conditioning out, today it's 45 degrees with a 30 MPH north wind and rain.

Stationed in GA and I find that this 2010 FX4 is the worst AC I have had. My 07 Lariat was much colder and the wifes 06 Saturn is like ICE. Good luck. Maybe take it to a local mechanic and see what they say. Let us know.
