Default Which ball studs for 5.0 coil covers?

I've searched and there's plenty of extraneous info about which ones to use. People are buying ones that are too long and chopping them, buying plastic ones and breaking them, buying pan head versions, allen screw versions, giving confusing info about what Roush part # to use when ordering from them, etc, and I don't want to deal with any of this.

Which metal ones do I buy for a no-hassle, plug and play install? These?

I know they need to be 10mm *****. Does the bolt portion need to be right around 1/2 inch long, and anything longer or shorter than that is a no-no? What about the thread pitch?

I don't mind spending $25 on them. I don't have the gear for bolt cutting anyway.

Thank you, but those are the plastic ones. How about the metal ones? Are the ones in my photo ok to use?

I have 2 extra plastic ones and they measure about 1" long and the threads are about 1/2 " long. A 8mm wrench will fit snug around the ball head and also fits the middle body that you tightened it down with.

So you used the plastic ones and didn't have problems breaking any?
I still would prefer the metal ones. Can someone confirm that the ones in my pic are ok to use?

Yes, the plastic ones are fine. Kinda hard to start, but then go in fine. i have pulled my covers off a few times to change paint color and the plastic has held up great. Here is a link to what someone else used but I believe the 10mm might be too large, not sure. https://www.f150forum.com/f38/5-0-co...talled-155933/

I found them.
The ones in post #1 should be ok to use, but if you want a true match to the OEM ones but in metal, these are what you want:

I also found out that member AI_Maryland used 10mm ones for his install. Perhaps the coil covers are compatible with ball studs ranging from 8mm to 10mm.

Hopefully this helps anyone in the future looking for the correct metal version of the studs.
Thanks koolponycar for determining that the OEM ones are 8mm. Its annoying that they don't mention that in the specs.

The plastic ones are also on amazon w/ 2 reviews and both reviewers said they broke them during install. I don't want to risk it. Knowing my luck I will break one after I've got it 90% screwed in and then I'll be ****ed.

Speaking from personal experience stay as far away from the plastic ones as you can! They are cheaply made and it will be a miracle if you don't snap atleast one off. I had to order another set so I can replace the one on the passenger side that I broke. It's gonna be fun removing that sumbitch! Luckily it wasn't one closest to the firewall.

These are what I used. Works perfectly! I think I bought them at Home Depot or Lowes.

Sorry to drag up an old thread but I just bought a set of covers. I found this so I stopped and bought these machine screws. Figured I'd give them a try since they're only $1.90 for 6 vs. $25 for 8 of the ball studs. Anywho, I'm having a rough time pushing these heads into the rubber grommets. Can anyone confirm these will work? Thinking maybe with them screwed into the valve cover maybe they'll push in easier? Or am I just out 25 bucks for the 8mm ball studs? Thanks.
