Default Anyone use a radar Detector?

Anyone who has one having trouble with their truck batteries? I have a Valentine One that has saved me thousands. I just picked up a 2013 fx4 back in March and have had it into the dealer probably twelve times cause I keep getting a low battery warning any time the ignition is turned on.
The only thing ford can come up with is my radar detector is draining the battery. I call BS, I can have that thing plugged into my wife's Jetta for weeks at a time with little run time and it never displays any trouble, both keep the unit on when they are not running. I've kept the radar detector outta my truck for two weeks and it still would say low battery, even after 5 hour car drives.

So the main question here is, who has one, do you leave it plugged in all the time, do you ever get a low battery warning light?
Thanks!!

I had a Cobra in mine for about a year then it went in the wifes ride (MKX). Never had an issue with either.

I've never had any issues with my detector and truck. Sound's like the dealer is lazy and just does not want to investigate the issue.

The dealer has actually been awesome, they have replaced pretty much everything they can think of including giving me two new batteries at their expense. Since they have done so many different things and it still doesn't work I think that's why they started blaming the radar detector. Which I doubt is the problem, and seeing as no one else has this issue with their detector. Guess we'll keep searching.

What year is your truck? 04? I think the computer system that goes into battery saving mode is only on 2011-present.

Have an Escort 9500ix hardwired into the back of the auto-mirror which is only powered when the ignition is ON => no issues since install.

I have a Bel Pro hard-wired to a key-on fuse, no issues yet. I find it hard to believe that just a radar detector could pull that many amps to drain the battery. Do you have the power retractable running boards?

Whistler (at least 8 years old but still works great) always plugged in to the cig lighter. The unit automatically powers itself off after 4 hrs, but I've never had battery issues.
