Anyone know What this is for, or WHY it is there?

Going up the mountains, this little crappy piece of rubber blew up. It is located on the intake just after where the pipe attaches at the top of the engine. I dont know if you can see it, but there is a split in it where it popped.

You can only see if it you are on a step stool and looking straight down over the engine at the intake. Its on the drivers side where the pipe from the turbo attaches.

The intake as in air intake or intake manifold? Does it cover a nipple? Only thing I am seeing is where the intake pipe splits, and goes to the drivers side Turbo, there's a nipple there with a rubber plug I installed as part of the fuel in oil tsb. There used to be a line that ran to to that nipple that was removed as part of the tsb.

Mine does not have what you are describing. 2011 eco. Can you take a picture of the new piece at its location?

Mine has round old school (?) vacuum diverters on all points?
