Default They are trying.

With the current mechanical experience with gas engines it seems reasonable that if a diesel is in your best interest, then ecoboost is not the answer. Look out folks--here it comes. Remember this is my opinion and I believe if you were fair and objective, you could see the point.

Don't try to drag me into this, just showing that there is a difference. Why diesels will run 1 million miles, while a gasser won't. But that applies whether boosted or NA. But yes, expect a turbo on a gas engine to wear out more quickly.

Not saying they are bad, or making any negative connotations. The turbos are not the Eco's issue, it's the CAC, and eventually, hopefully, they will fix it.

My thought is that a smaller turbo spinning really fast is going to be engineered to much smaller tolerances and be more prone to failure. As a final thought, while I am being called out to prove my opinion, you have finished with "totally obvious...", therefore, please don't bind my thoughts with a "back it up" mentality because your statement does not contain that requirement. All I am asking is that you be fair.
Why would stopping distance even been a factor in a free wheeling turbo?

Any device turning at such a high rpm is going to be built to very exact dimensions and extremely high tolerances, but that doesn't automatically mean it's more prone to failure.

By that flawed logic a home built turbo would be more reliable?!? Wait, what?!?

So I wondered why the OP hasn't complained about the thread's original premise being highjacked, over & over again. Most recently "Ecoboost vs.Turbo diesel". Turns out his Last Activity: 05-15-2013 08:11 PM. If he ever returns & want's it reopened, he may contact any Moderator & they will be happy to reopen it. Oherwise, it's just another Troll magnet.
