Any proven fix for improving gas mileage eco boost?

I also have a 2011 FX4 Screw with 3.73s and keep track of all my gas records. To date at 21,867 miles from brand new I have an avg MPG of 15.9. Looking at your records is making me think something is wrong with mine lol. My best tank was 19.7mpg and the next 2 are at 19mpg even.

I know what doesn't fix the fuel mileage: cold weather and snow tires! Just swapped my 18s for 17" snows and the temps dropped to the 30s. First one hundred miles I am showing 18 mpg instead of my usual 20+. According to my GPS with 18s I was going 65 when the speedo read 66.5. Now I have to have the speedo at 68 for the GPS to read 65.

I have recorded my mpg on every tank of gas on every vehicle that I have owned since 1995. My 21-23 mpg claim is dead accurate.
It seems that most of the people that are disappointed in the EB have unrealistic expectations. I have been hand calculating my MPG's on all of my vehicles since 1995. This includes the following:
'82 Chevy Luv dually with a built Toyota R22 - 20 mpg average
'95 Chevy S-10 4-cyl 25mpg city, 29mpt hwy (no ***** whatsoever, and broke constantly)
'01 Toyota Tacoma RCSB 4x4 4-cyl, 19mpg avg, best = 21mpg (Fun to drive, and awesome off-road)
'03 VW Golf 1.8t, 22avg, 28 best (drove it like I stole it most of the time)
'03 VW Jetta TDI, 45mpg avg city, 55mpg avg hwy (diesel FTW)
'05 VW Jetta 2.5, 24mpg avg, 26mpg best (gutless POS)
'08 VW Tiguan 2.0T AWD, 24-26mpg avg (really fun to drive)
'09 Subaru Forester 2.5na, 26mpg city, 30-32mpg hwy (best AWD system in snow EVER, I used WA D.C. as my personal rally track during the '09-'10 blizzards never got stuck, even in powder up to the windows, pulled a lot of trucks out too)
'10 Toyota Tacoma SCSB TRD off-road V-6 6-spd auto, 18.6mpg avg over 20,000miles 21.1mpg best, towing a 4,000lb trailer for three full tanks resulted in 12mpg avg HWY (ok torque, gutless up top)
'11 F-150 Screw Ecoboost FX4 3.73, 18.5mpg avg over 25,000miles 23.3 best (food for thought; this thing weights over 1,000lbs more than the '10 Toyota)
If you were expecting miracles out of a 1/2 ton pickup then I have a bridge in Brooklyn that I would like to sell you. Until you calculate your mpg's by hand and keep a log, you don't have a leg to stand on when you bitch about your poor fuel economy. I use my android phone and a mileage app these days to track my mpg and it gives me all kinds of geeky info about my fuel usage. This allows me to make meaningful comparisons from one tank to the other and accurately assess what is affecting my mpg's.
I clearly have too much free time...
As I mentioned in my previous post...did you check the plugs?

I am convince that people with these ridiculously low mpg claims are either driving far more aggressively than they are willing to admit or there is something wrong with their truck.
Check every fillup by calculator, most of the time is close to truck's computer. I will have the plugs checked at next oil change, getting ready to leave on a 100 mile trip, all interstate, will report back. wait a minute, I see that you are from Arkansas, better check your math

RBS where do you live? I live in the Piedmont and there are enough hills on the highway that I can never get 24mpg. Hills will destroy your mileage, just the way it is. Go out to Kansas and drive on a flat highway at 65 and you'll see 24mpg on day long.
I agree there are exaggerations on both sides of the case, but I think people for the most part beat on their trucks more than they think and still expect to obtain 24mpg every trip.

But to the OP, some EB's with the "condensation" issue have damaged a cat. It's possible that a damaged cat can restrict exhaust and lead to poor fuel economy. I would recommend you gut the cats, but it's illegal and requires one specific programmer to prevent the SES light from coming on.

Your 1st problem is the 3.73 gears If you need them for towing at max then fine but with the EB torque curve taller gears are more efficient for light towing or daily driveing even the much poo pooed 3.15 and the EB torque make a great MPG package. 2nd next time you get on the road bring up the economy display and drive by how far up you can keep the green bar with a little patiants and practice you should easaly pick up 2 mpg. For what its worth my2011 scab with 20k has a lifetime average of 20.9 this includes about 5% towing and I live in the country and seldom get into town.

I have a 2013 Lariat 4x4, HD Tow, 3.73,EB, elephant ear mirrors, 6.5' bed, and only 1800 miles. My average fuel mileage is 13.9. On i95 and i 26 I kept it at 77 mph and averaged 14.8 mpg. Very rarely hit brakes.
on hwy 521 running 60-65 mph, (resetting once I get to speed), I can average almost 16 mpg.
Love Ford trucks. This is #5 for me since 2004. By far worse gas mileage I have ever had and I have always had the 5.4 liter.
