Default any dragstrip data changing from 3.31 to 4.10 gears on 5.0 2wd scab?

just wondering if someone has done the 3.31 swap to 4.10 swap on the 5.0 scab 2wd (or any cab for that matter)and what kind of ET reduction at the drag strip did you have?

I can imagine it'd be a nice change, but I'm curious about that as well if anyone has real experience.

Well that'd be nice to hear some results once you do that. I have 3.55 but am debating with going up to 4.30.
Usually people change too many factors at once. Then you can't get an accurate result of how much of a difference the gears alone made.

I haven't done that swap on a truck but have done it a number of times on other vehicles, specifically my 2000 Trans Am that I had in the past.

The stock 6spd cars came with 3.42 gears and with a nearly stock car other than an intake, I ran a best of 12.98 of 96. I can't remember the exact as it has been about 8 years.

I put 4.10 gears in it when the stockers wore out (stock rear ends in LS1 F-body's are VERY weak) and picked up anywhere from .15-.25 in the 1/4. The exact conditions of course could not be recreated, but I was very easily in the 12's after making that swap. The gear of the T56 6spd in those cars LOVES having the 4.10 gear set in the rear end so it really woke it up and made a difference.

Thanks for the input, never understood why they used such a puny rear end in the F-bodys, i'm hoping in such a heavy truck with the stock converter it will pick up .25 to .3 tenths without killing mpg too bad

They did it for the fuel economy. If it wasn't for that, I'm sure we wouldn't even have 3.31 as an available gear ratio.

not sure I would do it just for a tenth I was hoping with a relatively small engine in a fairly heavy truck it would pick up 2.5 to 3 tenths
