This should be covered under the emissions warranty that goes to 60k I think. The EGR function is accomplished by valve timing on this engine. If the timing is off, then it's affecting the emissions.

Don't let me tell you different...

Emissions warranty is 8 years 80k miles. OP the timing chain should be covered...even in Fords TSB for the timing chain it says to cover the repair under emissions

Is the 8yr/80,000 an extra, or a factory warranty? I asked about it being a timing issue tied to emissions and they said no, but it never hurts to ask again. Trying to get all the info I can so when they send me a line of b.s. I have a factual reply.

I believe Ford may have retracted the TSB as it wasn't working to fix the issue. . Thought it was mentioned back in the original thread where huntinrig was having such a hard time. But originally I think it was on the extended emissions.

You are exactly where Ford wants you! Just outside the warranty window and a dealer that wants you to pay $3k out of pocket! I've posted the TSB a few times now so a search should pull it up.
