2011 SCAB XLT w/78000. It started acting up about 2 weeks ago, Ford cant pin point the problem til they dig into it. The scanner told them there was a timing issue, along with a cam censor, and a low boost problem also. And wouldn't you know it, my ESP ended Dec. 28, 2014, so here I am, stuck with a huge bill and lucky me 1.5 months out of warranty. Im beyond pissed right now......: censored:

That sucks. Did you have any documented issues prior to your ESP ending?

No, It acted funny 1 time right before the esp ended but I really didn't think anything of it, I wasn't getting the rattle from the timing chain like most do.

Wow... I feel for you man... 1.5 months passed warranty date and they won't step up for what is becoming a recurring issue on these trucks?

This timing chain issue should be a recall, no way Ford should be making anyone pay for something they designed wrong. I'd escalate this through Ford Motor company and raise hell.

So far an est. of a bit north of 3k before they even open it up to see whats wrong

They want $3000 just to see what is wrong? I'd be going to a different dealer. They know what is wrong unless you have compounded issues.

$1800 - $4000 is the spread I've seen guys pay for the timing chain replacement. The dealers will try to get away with what they can when they can.

That's just the estimated cost of the repair, but they wont know til they get in there.
