Another EcoBoost Race Truck Kicks Ass!

Couldn't agree more. I can't wait to see how it turns out and too see what they do in the future with this engine. No matter what doing events like this will lead to more advances with this engine as well as show us what we can expect for reliability and longevity of our engine (which I've never had a problem with this truck or my last two fords so I expect great things). In the off chance that they push an EB engine to the point of breaking it will also show us just how far we can push the envelope. Either way its a win win for us!

Glad more people are supporting the turbo platform race trucks and this one looks great. Hopefully this gets more manufacturers involved in offroad and desert racing.
I will say that a 7200 truck is not anywhere close to being a trophy truck...

You aren't bursting my bubble. The GTR is underrated to say the least. It would not pull the times it's pulling if it were truly at the advertised hp. I never said a 6cyl couldn't outperform a v8, I said the ecoboost doesn't outperform the Ford 6.2, because it doesn't. And the Eco is NOT in the same class as the GTR engine - the GTR is fully forged, the Eco isn't.
You Eco guys are funny. You always bring up the 2jz, RB26det(t) and the GTR knowing full well those are factory forged engines. When I bring up the hyper pistons and powdered rods on the Eco someone invariably brings up the Buick GN, the problem is that the GN 'only' produces around 600-650hp on pump gas. While those numbers are impressive, the 6.2 can get to 650 without forced induction.
Oh, the Z06 handed the GTR it's *** once you installed tires equal to what the GTR comes with from the factory. The worst thing GM did to the Z06 and the ZR1 are the ****ty run-flat tires.

I can't speak for the RB or VQ in the GTR, but the 2JZ is NOT a factory forged engine. I have built them and been tuning them for 10 years. USDM 2JZ-GTE (twin turbo) motors have Hyper pistons just like the EB. It does have forged rods and crank though. It has made over 1000rwhp in stock form, although it doesn't last too terribly long that way
The ecoboost, whether people want to admit its greatness or not, will eventually make its way into ALL KINDS of major motorsports. Whats even better, is Ford will be backing many of these teams from a Corporate standpoint which means like said earlier, there will eventually be BADASSNESS coming to the aftermarket soon.............. Has anyone been following Full Race out of Az?
They just partnered up with FORD to build a truck for SEMA. Full Race as a company specializes in aftermarket turbo systems for all kinds of cars like Honda s2000s to Mitsubishi Evos.............. Get ready to have your mind blown away.........
The idea of doing more with less (EB vs say a 6.2) has always been cool and gets people excited. For that reason alone there will always be people voting for the small guy.

You might want to read the latest post by Full-Race Geoff, here is a handy link for you if you miss the important part ( http://www.full-race.com/articles/in...ost-f-150.html ). I know this is an old thread......but there's a principal here, don't talk **** if you don't know EXACTLY all the facts.

Lol
I'm not being negative. I don't see how you can say that since the engine does well in a 4000lb truck, it automatically would do well in a 6000lb truck.
Nobody said the Eco couldn't be driven off road or that the Eco couldn't move the Raptor around. My opinion is that in its current configuration it wouldn't do it as well as the larger engine currently offered. With some tweaks I fully admit it would dust the 6.2 - but that Eco doesn't exist yet.

This Ecoboost powerplant has been very competitive against the full race 4.5-5.3 dry sumped high compression Busch v6 motors which are making from 500-550 hp. The Ecoboost makes slightly less horsepower but quite a bit more torque than the Busch motors. Here is a little video from one of the races where the truck had the 6th fastest lap time of all vehicles entered. Only 3 trophy trucks were faster! Hope you guys enjoy it.
