Figures the arguments would start right off the bat. :-(
Maybe that guy that argued with me, in the last Raptor/Ecoboost thread, that there are no turbocharged desert machines, will come and read up. I was going to pass on DanZio's website to prove him wrong but figured why bother.
I'm not arguing with anything in the article, just the statement that since the engine does well in a 4000lb vehicle it would be good in a 6000lb vehicle.

Now, if ^^^that^^^ eco came from the factory with a warranty, then yes - it would be a good engine in the Raptor 450hp/500tq... Even I can't deny that goodness.

I may have even been guilty of that a time or two ;-)

If I had to guess, the comment about 450hp 'bone stock' is probably right on...'bone stock' meaning the form they receive the engine in from their supplier, not stock as it comes in any mass produced vehicle that Ford sells.
And really, if it's good for 600hp on stock internals, that's still pretty impressive, besides, torque gets you moving, hp determines how much work you can do (ie top end) and we know it makes darn close to the 6.2 when both are in the form installed in the F150, who knows how the torque compares when each is bumped up to 600hp.

In stock form...yes there is an advantage in fuel mileage...BUT...in full out racing I doubt it will make a HUGE DIFF like the authors "blog" states. Of course we are all couch racing right now. I just like the fact that they are working with the engine (3.5L)!

Boost :)
I can't speak for the RB or VQ in the GTR, but the 2JZ is NOT a factory forged engine. I have built them and been tuning them for 10 years. USDM 2JZ-GTE (twin turbo) motors have Hyper pistons just like the EB. It does have forged rods and crank though. It has made over 1000rwhp in stock form, although it doesn't last too terribly long that way
