Another 5.0 ticking thread!
Hey guys, I have my 2011 FX2 Scab 5.0 with 48k miles on it. I bought it used with 42k and I figured the ticking noise was normal (First time truck owner).
After reading all the threads on here, I got fairly nervous and have an appointment with CarMax service department for them to look at it.
Before I bring it in and start ranting and raving, figured I'd let you fine folks tell me it's normal or not. Appreciate the help.

Mine does the same thing although your's is a bit louder. I have 65K on mine and it's been making that noise since day 1 only has gotten louder with time. No performance issues with it and gas mileage has been fine. I can make the knock real loud if I hold the throttle at about 1100RPM. I guess I'll wait till it blows up.

My Chevy 5.3 has injector tick. Seems to be common.

Eco-5.0-Eco again
Mine does the same thing...I wouldn't worry about it. I've posted about this before but @ 20k, the ticking has virtually quieted. They're some that say it is not normal and in some of the videos you'll see, the "tick" is a lot louder and more prominent - in which I would agree (not normal). Yours sounds like every other 5.0 / 4.6 I've looked at...as well as mine. Most of what you are hearing are the injectors...

Eco-5.0-Eco again
Update nearly 3 years later...
Anyhow, just wondering if anyone's tick got worse? Mine did @ 75K, to the point that you could hear it clearly at a stop. The tick became more prominent as the oil life reached 5k...I changed the oil and it literally had the viscosity of water when I drained it. So, I started using 5-30 oil and now it's quieter than it's ever been. I'm at 5k on the oil and it's still quiet and running great.
Anyone have any failures?

My tick went away after messing with the PCV valve, I’m now at 22k and the tick has never returned. BTW, I also switched to 5-30 due to the amount of towing I do and year round florida heat and my motor IMO also is much quieter l.
