There is a slight gain from a CAI BUT it's north of 4,000rpms so unless you beat on your truck all the time no noticeable difference.

Northernexposure - I've been doing research on this idea and honestly, everyone says don't bother with the cold air intake.
So I found a "different" twist for the cold air that might make a difference...

http://www.5startuning.com/product/s...andard-bumper/
While that appears to be a quality item, despite the fact that the ad indicates "With Stock air box", I believe it is a component for/of an aftermarket CAI.

And while the instructions indicate ...
"NOTE: some trimming of front air damn deflector and fender wheel lining may be required."
The pic' of the bottom of the stock airbox appears to have a section removed (which the tube probably supplies air to).

My concern would be spray from rain, wet roads, etc. soaking the filter element and the only drain would be the inlet from which it came.

I'm leaning towards slight modifications to the following ...Personal modifications would include (though not be limited to) ...
  • an inlet screen (as I note in my reply post).
  • a larger scoop.
