Default Air charge pipe

Air charge pipe-image-2799721572.jpg snowstorm here today so decided to see if I could find the source of a popping noise on heavy acceleration sometimes. Hooked up my smoke machine and this is what I found. Put a tie rap on it and it still leaks. This will not set a code.

I missed that.

I don't think any intakes on the market replace that either. I'm not surprised to see it cracked though....I thought that the seam was in a bad spot IMO from the start.

I wonder how many of us might have the same issue and not even know it?

Funny part is is that when it does it it adds fuel enough for black smoke but not enough for a misfire. With my MBRP exhaust you can't hear a miss and it won't stumble just screws up the boost sensor enough to pop.
Your right though because the seam is even on the nipple for the vacuum line. I put a tie wrap on the hose but it still leaked smoke. Must just suck enough extra air to screw things up. Shawn's tune made it the worst but in the end it was doing it stock also. Torries tunes will do it but not as bad as any of the others.

hmmm, I noticed when I was stock I had A LOT of carbon build-up on the chrome bumper. Might need to check mine...could also be why my AFR's on the stock tune fluctuated so bad at idle (ALL over the place like 13.8-16.0 while idling).

My truck smokes like a diesel and my bumper pretty much stays black. No popping sound though. I'm gonna have to check this.

Well I didn't see a leak where you were talking about but did find one line completely unhooked. Located in the center of the pic. I put it back on but haven't driven the truck to see if anythings changed. Can someone tell me what it does?
