I've given some thought to adding this CAI on my truck as well. I know that the HP and torque gains that are "shown" by most if not all CAI companies are just crap. Regardless if they have the dyno sheet or not, but I prefer to do it more for looks and just to have the mod, but also cause I assume it's also still better than the stock air intake system.

I would assume that... don't get me wrong its not bad and I thought all those guys saying stock is best and waranty this and that were just old guys. But honestly I loss mpg and don't notice any power increase over stock. It does look cool under the hood. Maybe its because I have a tune, but performace wise everything has been equal or worse with it. 10 years ago this would have been a must have but the way the stock intakes are these days its become obsolete. This is a lot of money considering people don't really look under your hood. Your decision... but I chose to write others off as old or chronic complainers but they were right about this one

If my MPG was going to take a big hit, then I don't think that I will do it cause it won't be worth it in the end and also not every person looks under your hood these days.

I am thinking that $300 or $400 could go towards some extra features on the truck.

MPG doesnt take a huge hit... about 2mpg but over the course of, say 100,000, it adds up. I went from 18.5-19 with just the tune(driving a little hard) to 16.5-17 driving conservatively. Just not enough benefit for the negative for me. I'm in a spot where I have it, its installed, and I want to give it a real chance but I have a feeling that the stock intake will go back on before long. I'm going to try a different tune when I fill up the tank again and see if it gets better. I'll keep you posted

You guys are killing me. Yes the tunes work, yes the CAI works, yes MPG went down which was directly related to my foot pressing down on the gas. This in turn causes the feeling of being sucked back into my heated seats. You call it seat of pants feel. My wife calls it holy s@$t feeling. I still get 20 mpg on flat roads. I have 5.0, SCT x3, magnaflow, aFe 2, tunes 87,91 perftow.

Just for an update and real world test results... I took the CAI off today (atleast until SC comes out with a CAI tune), I felt more power than I remember ever having. I ran a few 0-60 times with the CAI and here are my results:
2wd best time, 6.4 sec.
4wd best time, 6.6 sec.
I took the AFE stage 2 off today and here were my results:
2wd (only 1 run), 6.8 sec.
4wd (only 1 run), 6.0 sec.
The amount of power I gained by putting my stock intake was more than noticeable. .. the 2wd time was slower because the tires were spinning so much. When I put it in 4wd and ran again my co-pilot looked at me and said "holy $*&#". This is a guy who rides with me to work daily and never got to exprience the tune w/o the intake because he was on vacation for the short time that I had 1 w/o the other. He was with me for the runs with the intake and he said "you'd be insane to put that thing back on"
This may be due the the way that the engine is tuned but it definitly runs much better w/o it and my MPG is DEFINITELY better w/o it. Thinking heavily about coupling it with my stock appearance package wheels to see what kind of wheels and tires I can get for them together.

What programmer and tunes are you using on your truck? Also, how did you test your 0-60 time? Just wondering if you did it with your programmer or not.
