My AEM filter arrives today!

So nobody has any long term feedback on these filters?

****, this is my original filter at 11k. I knew the air quality here sucked!

I had a k&n cone filter in my old truck that I washed and re-oiled 9-10 times over the course of 10 years. That's every 12-13k miles or so because its bad here; the 30k recommended is way too long in this region (see my post above). Only the first few washes made a difference in restoring lost power/mpg. Then after 10 yrs I replaced it with a AEM Dryflow cone and it woke the engine up WAY more than rewashing the KN did.
Youre right, eventually the damn thing has to be replaced. I'd do maybe 3-4 washes and get a new one. And whatddya know, the AEM drop-in is priced about 3.5x more than the Motorcraft. Funny how that works..

updates?

Johndog posted his oem vs oem new a while back....I wonder if the AEM unit would have been that dirty (meaning it was cleaning the air well)??

I know what you mean. None of my filters stock or the AEM look anything like his. Very bad air quality there.

I'm confident that a clean stock filter would give you that back too 30K miles is a long interval on an air filter.
