Default Acceleration loss while driving

I have an issue where my EB F-150 will jerk and all of the sudden I lose all acceleration and the wrench light comes on the dash display. The only way to get it moving again is to turn off the engine and then restart. Obviously this is very dangerous.
I have had it into the dealer but they can't tell what the problem is. They say it has to be occurring for them to tell.
Any suggestions of what this might be?
Thanks,
Larry

Welcome to the site.

What codes are being stored when this happens? Does this happen when your accelerating? What are the weather conditions out?

Anything else to add?

I'm always just driving normally, not accelerating to speak of just normal acceleration of driving. Weather is normal fall weather around 75 degrees. The dealership says there is no code being stored, that is why they need to see it when it happens which is difficult because the truck won't accelerate when it happens so it has to happen right near the dealership. It is frustrating.

Could be spark plugs, have you changed them? Could also be spark plug boots. Might also be associated with the throttle body.

First thing I would do is double check the year of the truck and see if it had the TSB's done for condensation in the intercooler

The issue finally happened while a repairman was driving it. It turned ot to be a defect in the throttle body. I guess this replaced the old carburator. The dealer fixed it and it seems to be running fine now. Just wanted to let others know what it was.

If you lose all power yet the engine still runs but won't accelerate and the wrench light comes on this is most likely what the problem is.

Default Acceleration loss while driving

This just happened to me on my 2011 Raptor (131,000 miles) on a 850 mile trip. First time I lost all power but engine did not quit until I was almost to a full stop. Engine quit running when I was at about 10 mph on shoulder of interstate. Wrench warning light was on. I did not turn key off and engine started back up and ran normally. Wrench light stayed on until my next gas stop. After stopping and turning off key, wrench light did not come back on. I drove a couple hundred more miles with no problems. About 50 miles after another gas stop engine stumbled (jurked) twice but recovered immediately and wrench light never came on. Drove another 100 miles home with no problems.

I'm having the same problem and the same run around from the dealer. I'll have them check the throttle body.

this is what scares me about drive by wire, just wait until it fails in the opposite direction and your truck starts accelerating out of control.
what was wrong with a good old cable throttle?

even Harleys have drive by wire now
