So I drove two trucks over the past couple days; an Ecoboost and a 6.2L. Both were crew cab 5.5' trucks with the max tow package.

I liked the Ecoboost. It was a nice motor, and pushed the truck down the road very well. On the other hand, I absolutely loved the 6.2L. I liked that it didn't have turbo lag, and it pulled just as hard, if not harder than the Ecoboost. Also, the sound that it made was particularly heavenly. I am definitely leaning toward the 6.2L now.

I'm glad you went and tried them both. Good luck with your choice

Cracks me up... these fellas need to drive a vehicle that ACTUALLY has turbo lag. They wouldn't be saying the EB has lag after that. What lag are you talking about? The 5 feet of pavement it takes to get into boost? SOOO MUCH LAGGGG

Well also the fact that it goes away with a tune. If it were turbo lag then a tune could not fix it. Since it is actually the laggy DBW of the throttle then a tune can fix it. The difference between my work truck and tuned personal truck is drastic. If I quickly hit the throttle all the way to the floor really quickly on my work truck, the rpm lags and will barely move without moving you. If I do the same in my personal tuned truck, you will be accelerating with rpms jumping a couple 1000.

The truck I drove definitely had turbo lag. It wasn't a ton, but it was certainly there. There wasn't enough lag to be overly irritating, but enough to be noticeable on takeoff.

And I know what turbo lag is. I drive large diesel trucks on a regular basis, which have a great deal of turbo lag.

I'm sorry if I offended someone by commenting on what I experienced, so maybe it was just the truck that I drove.

Yea,I don't understand how but my work 5.0 has the same turbo lag as my personal ecoboost..... The torque management on these trucks sucks regardless of the engine under the hood!

Yet I'm still scared of the tune....

The big engine does sound nice. Just depends if you want sound our better mileage.

If the sound turns you on, go for the 6.2. I have pulled an 8000lb car hauler cross country with the eco and couldn't have liked it more. But it will never sound like american muscle. Mine does not have turbo lag, and yes, I have a class A license, and drive heavy trucks cross country.
