Default 6.2 L Real life fuel mileage

I was wondering if some people could list what they are getting for mileage with the 6.2L 4X4. I know it says 16 Hwy but I have never gotten the listed fuel mileage in any vehicle I have ever owned. I understand I could drive a little slower but I want to know what it will get running 75-80 mph. The reason I am asking is I am thinking of trading my 2010 Lariat 4X4 for a 2011 Limited 4X4. My current truck got about 14.5-15 mpg average running 75-80 on a 1800 mile drive. I was getting 16.5-17 until I hit wind and hills, that is when the mileage really started to go down. I am also wondering if the 6.2 having more power will allow it to be able to hold a better fuel mileage in the wind and hills?

Thanks

OK so I took my first road trip with my new Lariat Limited. 2000 miles From Sioux Falls, SD to Denver, CO to San Jose, CA so there was plenty of head winds and no shortage of hills and mountains, oh and snow too. Most of the gas said may contain up to 10% ethanol. We drove between 78-80 when we could and 67-70 when we had to. We also had about 1000 lbs of cargo with us. And we got 15.1 mpg. I am fairly happy with that considering my 2010 with a 5.4 got 15.9 on the same trip only going east last time. I am hoping to get that or better on the way home. Guess we will see in three months.

P.S. gas prices SUCK in CA!

Heh, thats not too bad! I can get around 17-18 driving that fast in SD with my 5.4 but in ND where I live I only get 15-16, lol! I was actually getting 19 going 80 heading north from Rapid City on the freeway, when I got to my home in the top of ND my average was 16.1 and it was never slower than 70.

You really want to know what a raptor gets at 70-80MPH??? HA HA!! Not much.... At 68MPH I get around 15.8MPG. The curve in not linear by the way at the rate MPG's go down with spead. It's pretty ugly when you start getting about 65 in a Raptor. Not trying to flame but does it really matter? It's a truck... It's not built for MPG's. That has never factored into the decision making process for me because I buy trucks for the purpose of using it as a truck. In a given tank, 1-2 mpg is not going to save you that much $$, even on the highway.

I say worry about the bigger issues with these rigs than the MPG's.

I have to say I am so sick of hearing "these are trucks we should not worry about fuel mileage."

Then if you are a "poser" and don't use your truck for it's intended purpose...read the window sticker so your not surpised about the fuel mileage. Not trying to be disrespectful....I just get tired of hearing people complain that their 5.4 is only getting 14mpg's in town. Most of the MPG complaints are withing the stated range on the window sticker. Driving habits and mods have a lot to do with it also.

Sorry for the flame...not direct at you personally.

Ok, how about a new one:

My truck is a company vehicle so gas is a business expense. Therefore I really don't care about fuel mileage.

That better?

I Have a 2011 Harley ed.
I get according to the "computer" the following mileage.
BTW I have a 2 inch lift 12.5x34 aftermarket tires
Around town 40 to 50mph
Easy acceleration 13 to 14 mpg(us)
Harder Acceleration and some fun 10 to 11 maybe
Having lots of fun and off-roading etc 8 to 10

Towing my 7800 pound travel trailer I got 7 to 8.5 going about 55/60mph

Hope this helps, in the end HP#'s and power comes from a good solid mixture of air and FUEL!
