I think (so far) that a ~2mpg gain could be averaged over stock. I would do the cheap gas tune though for more savings, here 89 is about $0.30 less then the 91 I use. That being said your truck/tires will like you better if you use the ECO tunes because the drop in power makes you drive your truck easier.
I will be going back to the SCT 91 but may use the ECO tune on a trip next month.

I have a few questions about this tuner.

I have never driven a tuned vehicle and do not have any device capable of "loading" a tune. In order to get the 5star tunes im intersted in I would have to purchase the SCT device. Using 5stars website I guess the only option for me is the SCT Custom X3? Im not interested in SCT's tunes at all, just 5star. Any way to get 5stars tunes only and it be cheaper than buying the X3 kit?

A few other questions if you dont mind.

- Does the tuner save my current stock tune? I had some issues that seemed to be resolved with the 12-2-10 update and would hate to lose that in the current stock file I have.

- Is 5star able to adapt to an upgraded tire size (speddo, etc.)? I dont have them now, but plan on getting an 1" taller BFG's by fall and would like the speedo to be accurate.

- Will I lose my gear display on my LCD display?

Thanks in advance.

You can buy the device from Mike and the tunes at the same time, I think it might be a little cheaper, not sure though.

The canned tunes are there on the SF3. Will be easier to sell later if you decide you don't like it because the custom tune will only work on your truck.

Your stock file is saved with the SCT.

You can change yourself the tire revs per mile and dial in your speedo

Your gear display will not go anywhere and function the same.

I would have to agree with Mike cause I like having the towing ability with the tune.
I will be at the dyno Saturday and I can post my results right at the shop..... U will soon know!! The real numbers.... I also posted my results last week with the SCT 93 canned tune. I forgot what they were but look for the title "dyno results today"

Hope for you people out there with a Superchips Flashpaq tuner for your ecoboost: I just sold mine on eBay for $178

Got back over half of what I paid for it, so all in all not bad.

Still loving the 5star tune much much better than superchips.

I saw this on the SCT canned tunes menu, but I have no idea how to calculate the revs on any tire. Is there a website that has this info?

Mike asks for your tire size info when you order the custom tunes, but I can't find a way to make the change with his tunes. I do recall seeing a tire size in inches when I first plugged in the device, and it said it was only 31". I think that's the right size for the stock 275/75/R20 tires, but I upgraded to 275/65/R20. I believe those are 33". I may need to contact Mike to verify he uses the tire size when programming my specific custom tune.

I also suspect the tire size wasn't changed on mine, because my mpg has gone down by 1. I would have expected a 1 to 1.5 mpg improvement just for the correct tire size, and another 1 to 2 mpg due to the tune itself.

You should be able to find the tire specs online.

MPG improvement/decrease is all up to the driver. To many other factors to take in to say across the board someone gets X improvement.
