2011 F150 5.0 39k
To clear something up...
Pennzoil's parent company is Shell.
Jiffy Lube's parent company is Shell.
Pennzoil's filters are made by Purolator.
Purolator's parent company is Mann+Hummel.
...sadly, these are all premium names. Jiffy Lube is known for swindeling people, but all the other names involved are known for quality products.

Sorry to hear this Mong. Just like the others have said, I don't see how its anyones fault but the Jiffy Lube - Purolator - Mann direction. I hope you get taken care of, I really don't see how they can deny you, but I'm a nobody so...

Keep us posted.

Yeah, we will see what happens.. the filter is getting sent to purolator today so well see. I should find out in about a week to ten days according to Jiffylube. Hopefully I do not end up getting stuck with the bill.. I will keep everyone posted as to what transpires.
Ford wants no part of it, Jiffy Lube wants no part of it, I spoke with a guy at Purolator and he said that if indeed it was the filter they would take care of the motor. The only thing I worry about is that they themselves are testing the filter, and if they say the filters fine, what then? No one accepts responsibility and i'm SOL.
But I need to stop saying what if, and just see what happens,
Thanks for any and all advice, and sympathy

Lawyer up. Do not send the filter until you have talked to one IMO. That is all the evidence you have. Don't mail it out without some advice.

Did you get documentation from Ford that the filter failed?

If Purolator says the filter was fine, then Ford would have to warranty the replacement. Therefore, I would think ford would be your advocate in this case.

Ford has taken pictures of the filter and what not, so I think it should be fine. They said it was ok to send it away, so I'm going with that. Ford has not given me anything except a verbal denial of warranty. It is all kind of in the air until Purolator get the filter. Ford did cut the filter open though and I've read that Purolator does not like that because it makes it so they cannot test it properly.. you can visually see the 'glue' or whatever it is in the filter fins so they should be able to see if it came from the filter or not.. there was a piece of that 'glue' on the oil pump intake screen too.

I found out, yesterday, that the filter that came apart was not the filter that was on the truck, it was from a previous filter/oil change.....
The only way a tech would know that there were parts/pieces of the filter is to cut the filter open. Thats how they knew it wasn't the current filter.
I also found out that Purolator makes Motorcraft oil filters.
If you have to breakdown on the interstate, make sure you are around Springfield, MO and are towed to Republic Ford in Republic, MO. :-) Service department personnel are courteous, knowledegable and helpful....it is also helpful when you are dealing with fellow gearheads.
I will also give a plug for Republic Ford in Republic MO. Their service advisors are top notch and they really do try to help you. So far, I've used them three times for warranty work on my 2014 Mustang GT. I took my fiancée's son to them when he wanted to buy a truck and he bought a 2014 crewcab F150 4x4. It was probably one of the easiest buying experiences I have experienced and he got a great price on the new truck as well as a very fair price for his trade-in. I highly recommend them.

Has anyone said anything?

I changed my oil/filter 2 days ago and my mind was on this thread the entire time.

Oh me boys, I sure hope these get fixed, both of them! I always use MotorCraft too, thinking they are the best. I reckon only tow or three companies make filters, so, we're stuck. What does old Bob oil boy say is best? I'll have to check his site.

Nope, I tried phoning Purolator and just keeping getting an answering machine. Jiffy lube also says that they are waiting to hear.. the filter has been there for over a week now.
Will keep posted..
3 weeks without a truck is a pain I can tell you that!
