Default 5.0l Mods and upgrades.

So I have a 2011 f-150 5.0L with 7,500 miles. Totally Stock.

Im using Mobil 1 0w-20 synthetic.

I would like to upgrade the air filter to K&N, #33-2385.
K&N 33-2385 High Performance Replacement Air filters : Amazon.com : Automotive K&N 33-2385 High Performance Replacement Air filters : Amazon.com : Automotive

Does the 5.0L come with irridum spark plugs?
If not then Im getting Denso Irridiums #5339
DENSO Part # 5339

CCV Catch Can. Home made.

And last but not least, tuning. Not sure from who.
I would like to get a towing tune or mpg tune.
Im not interested in a performance tune. Thats what my Porsche is for

What do you guys think?

Thanks, steve.

I'm just glad to see someone in the engine forum talking about a 5.0. This part of the forum is full of Eco chat.

Oil catch can is on to catch oil vapors that are sent back into the engine for reburn. The oil vapors can lower you octane level. There are a lot of threads on them.

Thanks you reminded me to empty it. 6000k 1/3 full Name: IMAG0163.jpg

And during the combustion the oil is burned and the left over carbon sticks to the engine components.

I originally wanted to keep the crank case vent stock to allow the oil to lubricate the valves and upper cylinder. But i decided that a cleaner engine is more than worth it cuz then the oil can get to all the places that it needs to get.

Ok so no new plugs since they are already iridiums

Yes on home made catch can.
Yes on K&N.
Yes on Tuning. Still open to other suggestions.
And keep using the 0W-20 Mobil 1.

Do you guys have a link to an online manual so I can look up intervals and other maintenance stuff.

If you are going to use this oil in anything that might be considered severe conditions i highly suggest getting an oil analysis from black stone done.

Why 0w-20? Do you live in subfreezing environments often?
