5.0L intake talk
#41
I hated the sound of an aftermarket open filter setup on my truck, especially when the engine lugs just a little bit....Its quiet with the stock setup, I just wish they would have designed a new top for the airbox for the new engines so it pointed straight out instead of towards the back....I though about trying to heat mine up with a heat gun and bend it straight for a more direct path for air instead of having that extra turn.

I have the 5 star afe intake setup with the cover for the boss intake sitting in the box (one I was talking about above. Currently I fabbed up an intake tube that uses the stock airbox lid and k&n drop in filter, until I can find an intake that I like that offers a bigger maf opening and intake tube and closed off design for the filter....As far as the mustang crowd, last time I was reading, there was very little power gain from an aftermarket filter and most were giving problems with the maf signal..
Here is a pic of my setup.

Also to note per k&n's filter test, the stock airbox with an aftermarket drop in filter provides more airflow than the engine requires. This engine requires 721 cfm at 7500 rpm (most of us will never see that rpm), and according to k&ns drop in filter test, their filter flows 783.7 cfm through the stock airbox http://www.knfilters.com/dynocharts/33-2385.pdf giving us more than enough flow for our engine airflow requirement.

Per ford, these engines operate at around 110% efficiency.

Think I can make this ram scoop and intake work with my truck if I still install the hidden winch mount and a winch in the front bumper and cut a slit or drill some holes in the plate or will I need to fab up a way to angle the scoop up behind the grill

This is not my truck but it is the same winch mount and bumper I have
Also I will be running a hawse fair lead not a roller style like pictured again its only to show the mount in the gap

I think so to because if I can mount the fair lead on the winch won't need that front plate fully may be able to tank it or at least cut the drivers side hole out and weld some mesh in for airflow
